Can Someone Tell me why I didn't get the Basileus achievement?

I have every required province as cores although im not independent because im in a union under the commonwealth. I did declare an independence war and lost everything but I still should have gotten the achievement before that.

I can't tell what your exact borders are due to zoom and Commonwealth. I suspect it's something around the Trebizond area.

Edit: Or the "under union" part. You may want to let a year tick to see if that helps as well.

The wiki claims that this achievement is only checked at the beginning of the year. Dont ask me why.

If you are going by the wiki, it is outdated. 1.15 added several provinces missing since map rework.

There's a little trophy icon under the pause button. That should tell you what you don't have.

Also, as was said earlier, the wiki can be quite out of date at times.

From the looks of it, you're missing the province of Theodoro (next to Caffa/Kaffa)

They somhow got castile into a union then annexed them 50 years later

And it looks like that's held by the Commonwealth, no idea why you let them get that big, unless you were just going to abandon the game after the achievement, mind you I also would have nipped that England - Castile thing in the bud. In the Commonwealth's case you release Lithuana, and Lithuana will immediately rival the remaining Commonwealth. In every other case of PUs, like I always war with Austria to keep them from Hungary (that's my land), just get to 100% and force them to release Union. Mind you, I always, pretty much with every country I play in Europe, release Styria from Austria if I can't get them in a PU, so easy pickings.
