can someone please explain what just happened, and another thing

well, this is my first game of ckII, and i have played ck1, so i'm not completely new.

ok, so i'm playing as the duke of conaucht, and my wife became duke of normandy. i have no idea how, but she did. so she declared a war of independence, and on the independent map mode, normandy is not part of france. so it took me 2 years of war to have a warscore of over 50%. i can't negotiate with the king of france, so i just hope she will take care of it quickly.
all of a sudden, i get a message that my wife won her war, all sieges stop. hurray my heir will be a duke of a independent normandy!
but wait, normandy is now part of france on the independent map mode. why? also the lower half of france is now owned by some infidel. what just happened?

my other question is that i have a popup alert( y'know the little round buttons that appear in the middle top of the screen) that says i will lose some titles upon succession. when i look art them i can not for the life of me figure out what i can do about it, who will get them, and why.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

well i figured out the problem with the titles. i had the succession law that divies up titles, and i changed it to the one where only the eldest child gets everything. boy did that piss off my other kids. but it had yo be done, since my grandkid is a genius. that was a big d'oh on my part.

as to the war with the french, still no idea what happened there. it probably has something to do with how war ends if a king dies. i think that is what happened. my wife was fighting henry II, and when henry III took over, the war ended. but why didn't she win her independence, and the territory she controlled?

Maybe the new king asked her to swear fealty right away after she won? The AI is ridiculous enough to actually accept such a thing.

It doesn't really matter that much. When you inherit the Duchy it'll become independent again, I think.
