So going by memory here:
  • Both Sector Automation and Planetary Automation use the resources in the sector stockpiles for construction.
  • Both Sector Automation and Planetary Automation require the planet to be in a sector.
  • Sector Automation:
    • Applies to the entire sector if active.
    • Will attempt to build planets according to the Sector Focus you've set
  • Planetary Automation:
    • Applies to each planet you activate it on.
    • Will attempt to build the planet with priorities set by the Planetary Designation.
Generally speaking, I've found Planetary Automation to be more useful than Sector Automation. I can set a planet to a mining world as soon as I've colonised it, enable automation and forget about it and it generally works. The planet won't be as optimised as if I hand crafted it, but it's good enough.

As always I'll repeat that Sector Automation, Planetary Automation and the Economic Minister for the AI all function differently, so don't make assumptions for one due to how the other works.

But the planetary automation will fill the damn clerk jobs from the city districts.

Can we pretty please have some more levers to pull in pop management so automation isn't just a way to throw resources away.
Simple checkboxes like "keep amenities only just above 0", "close all clerk jobs", "close all worker slots" and finally a "planet done" checkbox that REMOVES IT from the outliner.

I'll bring it up with the rest of the team.
