Yesterday I downloaded the EU:Rome demo and it worked perfectly fine on my computer. Now that surprised me a bit since I was unable to run the EU3 demo on my computer when it was released, so I thought it had to do with my settings. So, I downloaded the EU3 demo again, and sure I'm unable to run it since I don't have 128 mb of video memory. Now, I'm pretty sure I read that EU:Rome was going to have the same system requirements as EU3:NA, is that correct?

If that's the case, will I be able to run EU3:NA on my computer despite not having 128 mb of video memory?

Perhaps this should've been posted in the EU3 forum, but I figured all of the developers attention would be here, I hope you don't mind.

I suggest that you invest in a new video card. I recently (couple of months ago) acquired a new computer central unit. Couple of days I played EU3 with that central unit and 10 years old CRT monitor. EU3 ran smoothly with that configuration. IMO, EU3 running smoothly is almost everything about the video card or CPU.

I can't gaurantee that you can run NA. I was chatting to the guy who did the graphics code and he said that he did further improvements to the graphics code for EU:R to imporve performance.

Perhaps I should've explained more carefully. When I try to load the EU3 demo, I get an error message saying that I don't have the needed memory, and it doesn't load. Obviously the game checks to make sure that I have at least 128 mb.

When I try to load the EU:Rome demo, the game obviously doesn't check if I have the needed memory, or otherwise the requirement must've been lowered for EU:Rome.

Will the full version of EU:Rome check that I have 128 mb to be able to run it? Does it do that for EU3 and its expansions?

And I'm a poor student with a laptop, so getting a new card isn't really an option.

it depends on your graphics card, esepcially if you have a laptop, these used shared memory. So if the graphics card only had 64 MB onboard but could draw on shared system RAM then the EU3 demo would refuse to run it (it could only see 64MB), this was fixed in the 1.1 patch so the main game would run in these circumstances. If this is your problem then yes you can run EU3 from the 1.1 patch onwards.

Yes, I think that's the case.

Here's what my details tell me (roughly translated):

Type: NVIDIA MCP67M
Total amount of available video memory: 559 MB
Dedicated GFX memory: 64 MB
Shared system memory: 495 MB

Edit: Does anyone know how well it will run?
