if I put a trigger in an event that has...


trigger = {
control = { province xxx data = REB }
}

where xxx is the capital prov number. Will the event trigger if the rebels control it?

I know it should work for 'ordinary' country tags, but I am unsure about 'REB' or 'NAT' tags.

Also (but I doubt sincerely) is there a trigger command to check which prov is a capital?......

....scrub that, I know the answer......

....how could I make it that an event triggers when rebels control a nations capital when the nation could have a capital in one of 5...ish provinces?
(only 1 capital but in either X Y or Z prov)

That one could be quite difficult, BUT... if the difference in capital position is due to events, you could just add a flag to it...

Like the event that moves the Chinese capital from Anhui (?) to Hebei, if the move is done, activate flag = capital_hebei if not, activate flag = capital_anhui

OK that makes things alot easier. I have several Italian minors able to form the Kingdom of Italy. (hence the capital could be in around 5 provs). I have two events to move capital.

1) to move to Torino (historicalish) so, yes I can put a falg on that.
2) to move to Rome (If you own it...LOTS of CB on you but hey) so a flag on that too.

Of course the answer would be to not give you a choice to keep your old capital, but HAVE to move to Torino (and then Rome if you take it) but I dont want to do that. Any ideas?

EDIT, P.S. the rebel control thing. Its for during the Napoleonic era. Specifically if you own corsica. I am just writing up some events for Napoleon Marching on the capital of Kingdom of Italy. (If it existed and owned corsica, would not he go there, rather than France?), so I need to know how to wrangle this out as it is puzzling me.

monarch trigger, does that just trigger for that countries monarchs or can it trigger off of another countries monarchs.

For example,

trigger = {
monarch = 0000001 (french king nappy)
}
country = ITA

will it recognize the monarch even though it is in the monarchs.fra file and not the monarchs.ita file. Or does the trigger only recognize monarchs in the country tags monarch file.

Why not always allow to move to Rome (when owned), no matter where your capital was before the event?

Couldn't there be an event (for France) that fires when Nappy is born and Corsica is not owned that disables him and all events related to him?
The same event could be the trigger for the Italian event if it exists and it owns Corsica.

AFAIlK, it should work, but I'm not sure so I recommend that you find out yourself (or being lazy, wait for someone who have tried to tell you).

What I meant was that to make the flags work, I would have to have an event that would have only one option >move to rome (there would be no option to stay where you are). What I dont want to do is 'force' the capital to somewhere with no other option.

IIRC the capital is -2 wherever it might be. So it might be easier with just -2.

Maybe this is already clear but I'll give you my two cents on the matter. We tried that trigger (using REB tag) in an event of the Mongol Empire and the game kept giving CtDs trying to trigger that event, so we had to modify the trigger forgetting about the REB stuff...

It was in-game triggering that screwed the game up, AFAIK. I think no one tried to trigger it thru the console. We had to re-script the trigger to not controlling a certain province which is not what we wanted but it was the closest thing...

It was events FOR Italy.

If Italy existed by the time of Napoleon, I wanted some events that would simulate his march on the Italian capital (whether it be in Torino, Milano, Roma, etc). Linked with American revolution, French revolution and the tiny island of Corsica!

If the Kingdom of Italy existed, Napoleon might have paid more attention to it rather than France (especially if KoI owned Corsica), and brought revolutionary doctrines to the kingdom. So, if rebs controlled the capital (after events that upped RR and a smattering of revolts of course), the king of italy flees and Nappy and the 'republicans' ;) take power. However it seems the REB trigger doesnt work. Grrrrr.
