Something I've noticed with the latest HTTT patch is that if Poland ever actually does well and inherits Lithuania, they don't get cores. The AI can't handle 50 years of revolts over that large of an area (and frankly I wouldn't want to either), so they explode again into a number of smaller countries.

So even if Poland survives the first 50 years, they won't survive the next 50.

Yeah, I've rarely had Poland survive in HTTT either. Besides ideas already mentioned, having Lithuanian as an accepted culture would probably help matters some. Cores on Lithuania, even moreso.

That was the funniest thing I've seen on-line all week. Thanks! You are a very good cartoonist. I especially like the UK's tophat.

On-topic:
I haven't played a Poland or Eastern Europe game in quite some time now - probably not since vanilla or NA, but I have noticed "from afar" that Poland definitely seems to do worse in the AI's hands than they used to. In older versions of EU3, I would routinely see Poland stretching from Moscow to Berlin, the Baltic to Bulgaria. Now, I hardly ever see that (instead, I often see the Ottos and Muscovy/Russia do better than they used to - possibly related?).

I think giving Poland cores on all/most of Lithuania would help quite a bit:

1. would give them Lithuanian culture (for those saying "Let Poland have Lithuanian as an accpeted culture", I'm pretty sure that accepted cultures are hard-coded as part of the game mechanics, and simply a function of basetax % of total of cores of respective cultures)
2. would give them appropriate direction to expand if/when Lithuania gets mauled by GH or Russia
3. if they ever do get to inherit Lithuania, they won't fall apart again from constant rebel-fighting in non-cores

I hate to be picky but I only have one problem with it. Poland's colors are white on top and red on the bottom. :p

It would also give them 100 years of prestige loss via "uncontested claims" meaning union would be even more fragile than it's now.

He didn't. This thread is in reference to the cartoon "Polandball" where they make fun of Poland ("cannot into space" etc.). Type "Polandball(anyone)" in google and you'll find a great thread. :D

For Poland it's difficult to expand. GH should be nerfed a bit and HRE is a problem as well.

u dont get the uncontested claims prestige malus , when the other country is in your pu , your vassal and allied. Also u dont lose the cores over the 50 years core rule as long as its count. When u cancel a vassal u will lose the 50 years + cores.

I think accepted culture hasnt changed till yet.
When 10% of your cored provinces are culture "x" , then u will get them as accepted culture.
When it falls below 5% of core provinces, u will lose accepted culture "x".

I'm at work right now :)oo) and can't check for sure, but I believe that AlknicTeos is correct and that Poland wouldn't lose prestige in that case. I know for certain they wouldn't if Lith. was a vassal, but I'm not sure of the mechanics for lesser partners in PU's.

At any rate, worst case, say you are correct - isn't losing Prestige pretty small potatoes compared to being territorially disemboweled? :p

Losing prestige *is* a worst case scenario, because negative prestige breaks the PU.

Giving Poland pre-existing cores on the Lithuanian cultured land, having Mazovia start out as a vassal, and having a triggered effect of 2% prestige and -2 revolt risk to both Poland and Lithuania so long as the PU is in effect would probably be enough to make them stay together for a while. Doing something to increase the amount of troops Poland can field would also help, as would reducing the number of starting troops that Golden Horde has.

I'd chip in Polish core on Mazovia to that list. Before Poland was partitioned by a stupid king between his sons (which actually turned out to be a good thing because competition between smaller states led to quick development of all of them, those stagnating were beaten up while those well-governed rose to power rapidly), Mazovia was very much a part of it and Polish kings always had all the right to demand that piece of land for the crown.
