Hi

Apologies if this thread is in wrong place but I really need some advice

I have no idea about Pc games all I have had was a laptop to play sim city 4 and consoles etc

However after seeing cities skylines by mistake it looked amazing I had to try and buy it. So I sold my Xbox one (realising cities skylines problem won't come to consoles) and I bought this

AMD phenom X4 3.4ghz
8 Gb of ddr 3 ram
HD 6870
500gb hdd
Windows 7

I got this Pc for £170 UK pounds and was told this is good for price I paid

So please bare with me (as I have downloaded games from steam before and the never worked or had bad frame rate etc (probley my laptop)

So could my pc run cities skyline at a decent rate if so any rough idea of levels of performance (I know no one can be 100% correct with this)

And would like to buy the boxed deluxe edition from game.

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Still need some advice please

I went and got the deluxe edition but it's still in its wrapping

As I don't want to open it if I cannot run the game.

So would greatly appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks

Since I don't have the game I have no idea, but I would recommend you posting the Cities: Skylines section of the forum. Here is a link for you
I assume some users would have a clue on there.

I've been thinking of buying the game, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not I could actually run it. I'm close to the minimum requirements, but I don't quite meet all of them.

I have an i3 530, which is at 2.93 Ghz vs the minimum requirements of 3.0 Ghz. Then I have 3.0 GB of RAM vs the game's minimum of 4.0 GB, and a Radeon HD 4830, which seems to meet the graphical requirements.

Could I run the game at a reasonable frame rate? I play EU4 with most of the expansions + Veritas at an enjoyable speed, only getting a real slowdown when I try to run it on the highest speed or in the very late game.

Cpu is better than minimum, gpu a bit lower than minimum, but I think you need more ram to run the game on lowest settings. And it will probably lag with cities bigger than 100K

Huh. Is there a demo for Cities that I could run, so that I could try and find out if I could run the game properly?

I wouldn't want to waste any money on something I can't play, especially with Steam's no refund policy :(

If you're under requirements it's likely the game won't even start for you, much less run. This happened to someone I know on another forum.

If you are somewhere between minimum and recommended you probably won't be happy with the way it runs. My video card was barely below Recommended when I got the game (everything else is slightly above Recommended) and I was running at tops 9 FPS. I upgraded the video card and the improvement was so drastic that now I get anywhere between 40 and 60 FPS depending on where I am on the map.

I just went to Can You Run It, only thing I am missing on the minimum requirements is the most important thing, the RAM.

Guess I'll just have to wait till I get more RAM before I can buy the game :(

Lucky for you RAM is usually the cheapest and easiest part to upgrade, even on most laptops... and it is definitively worth the cost. Not only for this game but for everyday stuff to. :)

FYI, for future purposes, you may want to ask this question before you buy it. Lucky for you it will run just fine.

You should be able to unlock all 25-tiles and fill them. It may be a little laggy lazte game as the CPU may get a little bogged down. But you should have no trouble filling it. At worst you may lose your x2 and x3 game speed as your CPU will be running 100% maxed and won't go any faster.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
