So this was something that came to my attention a while back when my Miaphysite Armenian King died and his heir was an Orthodox Armenian King. He eventually converted back, but for a while I played with an Orthodox King and and Orthodox Council. And I noticed the Court Chaplain had a different model because he was Orthodox now. Now that all makes sense, but the funny thing I realized about him was that he actually now had a more accurate looking character model for being Patriarch of Armenia. And it was weird that when the kingdom converted back to the historically accurate religion, they looked less historically accurate.

I realize that the game's religion mechanics are an approximation of history, as allowed by the game mechanics. And I also realize that CK2 isn't going to be able to account for everything unique to each individual culture, (such as Armenian Priests having pointed hoods), but at the very least I think Miaphysite Patriarchs should get better than the default model for the Catholic Chaplains. In fact, even something as simple as just giving Miaphysites the Orthodox Chaplain model wouldn't be perfect (especially since I found out that there is no East African Chaplain model), but it does seem to me like it would be a vast improvement. They are both Orthodox Churches, after all.

I'm not sure what the priests of the Church of the East wore at the time, but today from what I've seen the Assyrian Clergy also have unique vestments. Maybe the Orthodox models wouldn't fit them quite as well, but they also seem like they should get a model other than the Catholic one.

While they're at it could they actually try to make heresies appear as and when they should ? I am sick of seeing Lollards in 9th century Italy or Cathars taking up positions in 14th century Norway.

Hopefully we get a substantial DLC for Miaphysites and Nestorians.

My primary concern was getting their appearance and character models to look better, but I had also been wondering if there could be more events for them as well. A while ago in one of my games, I remember a small Assyrian Nestorian state emerging in the Middle East. I can't remember if it was ruled by a Count or a Duke, but they had few counties to their name. They survived for longer than one might have expected, and with my help they might have even managed to expand and thrive, if it wasn't for the fact that their wartime AI was so bad.

And in my current game, a combination of marriage, war, and luck has allowed me to make Miaphytism the dominant religion of the Byzantine Empire. Since there are dramatic and implausible fictional events you can achieve in the game, like ending the Great Schism or restoring the Roman Empire, why not make something for Miaphysites too? They have extremely similar religion mechanics to the Orthodox Church.

Maybe you could include a fictional event like "Reject the ruling of the Council of Chalcedon" or "Unify the Orthodox Churches" if you have control of a certain number of bishops or territories?

A DLC for this could also include a much needed North Africa improvement and Arab portrait update. I like the "unify the churches" idea as long as it isn't just erasing them and making heresies, but actually creates a unified church that is more than the sum of its parts, retaining ritual differences and autocephaly with new options for crusades, holy orders, pilgrimages, diplomacy, technology and trade throughout all the Christian holy sites. It could include mechanics like ecumenical councils. Since mending the Great Schism in the Legacy of Rome just turns Catholics into Orthodox or heretics, there could be a different version to keep the pope as another autocephalous bishop with the ecumenical patriarch in either Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch or Jerusalem, depending on player decision (or alternating through some new elective voting mechanic).
