Currently they feel underwhelming.
Shinto needs to have a special relation with Confucian and Buddhist ideas. The "17-article Constitution" written by Shoutoku Taishi is largely based off Confucian and Buddhist ideas.
The Tokugawa bakufu's official guiding philosophy was Neo-Confucianism.
Japan's homegrown religion has a long history of adapting from it's neighbors. I think the game does a very poor job of that, considering how much Confucianism and Buddhism have influenced Japan.
Japan should get a decision when they have at least a few Confucian or Buddhist provinces that increases the tolerance of either one to +2, at the cost of reducing their Tolerance of the True Faith by -1.

- Unifying Islam is actually pretty good. But for the work it requires, it's kinda meh.
- The Pentarchy: 25 prestige, 25 legitimacy, disable the pope, kinda meh. Should do something like give you bonuses towards Catholics at least. Maybe auto-convert all Catholic provinces you control and that come under your control in the future to Orthodox.
- Declaring Kingdom of God: seriously this sucks. Some manpower is nice, and the prestige is nice, but it disables the Curia, which is basically the only reason you'd want to stay Catholic as the Pope(not that you have a choice). This honestly should put you in control of the Curia.
