As far as I am aware the game received its most recent update at the end of last month. Not sure what the developers plans are, but if you really want to know you'd best go to check at their forums. Kerberos is the developer and responsible for patching.

Somehow the game looks a little bit primitive with the used resolutions for systems and ships and screens
Probably the developer has worked on it for a long time ?
The manual is on the short side too.
Stories about the bad AI --> that is maybe now going to be improved ?

There are two manuals,
the end of flesh manual which is ~40 pages long and is to do with Loa http://www.kerberos-productions.com/sots2_motd/SotS2-EOF_v1-0_301112.pdf

I take that back, both manuals are actually available on the launcher - last time I checked I don't think they were updated.
Get them from the launcher as the LoW one is newer

Yeah. The graphics are actually pretty nice, once you get those ugly effects out of the way.
It's a bit hard to find a chance to appreciate the ships' looks in combat, I find. More so than I did in the original.
