Can I refund my steam pre order of the FME and buy it off the paradoxstore to support paradox even more? Or will this screw up some of the benefits, avatars, etc.

I just had to pre-order and couldn't wait anymore when the paradaoxstore was down in the early seconds of pre-order release so I bought it from steam since I was so hyped
It wont screw up anything if you buy the same edition directly from paradox. You will still get the same stuff.

- Navigate to Steam Help (help.steampowered.com) and log in with your Steam account.
- After you have logged in, click on A Purchase.
- Find the purchase you would like to refund and click on it. If your purchase is not listed, it falls too far outside of our refund window and is ineligible for a refund.
- Select the problem you are having with the product.
- Next, click I'd like to request a refund.
- Fill out and submit the request form.
- Please click on the drop-down menu icon to select the Steam Wallet or the original payment method.
- You should receive a confirmation email that your request was successfully submitted.

because if you buy it directly from paradox they get the whole (for example) 90€ (minus taxes of course). If you buy from steam, valve takes a 35% cut of the money. For you it doesnt make a difference, for paradox it does however.

Wrote that i wanted to get another package and it took approx 2 hours before it was refunded.

They'll refund the money "within a week". The one time where I used their refund policy, it took two business days to get the money back, but based on some Steam forum discussions it seems that it's sometimes faster and sometimes slower (probably depending on their workload).

Does Paradox deliver it to you directly? I thought they provide you a Steam key, so they take all your money, but then give a chunk of that money (probably the same percentage) to Steam/Valve. Steam aren't going to provide it for nothing - it downloads from their servers, they provide the DLCs and patches, and you have to be registered with them, even if you didn't buy the game directly from them.
Steam makes so much money off of people buying off steam that people buying it other places and then using the keys on steam isn't a huge deal, and in the long run helps their relations with other companies that they're so flexible.

Valve takes a 35% cut of all sales directly ON STEAM as a distributer. Sales outside of steam arent affected by that. They cant charge Paradox the purchase fee for keys that were bought from Amazon or elsewhere, Steam doesnt work that way. Why do you think alot of smaller developers offer their games from their own sites, paralell to on the steam store like Factorio for example. They get 1/3 more money from that.
Apple for example takes a 30% cut on the AppStore aswell. If you buy Apps externaly you can avoid that aswell and the dev gets a big chunk more. I dont know if that actually works on iOS, since i dont own a iPhone, but Android allows you to install Apps from external sources.

Steam refunded my paypal account in less than an hour, then just picked it up in the PDX store.

Haven't bought an app in 5 years, eyes are getting bad lol, but thanks for the info, PDX should get my full amount, was just surprised how quickly the refund came, maybe because I used PayPal
