Hi!

I'm doing the Spaghetti Western achievement.
I already have 4 provinces in Colonial Mexico, and in the Rio Grande region.

I know that, in order to move the capital to the new world, I need to remove all the states, except for the one where the current capital is.

Do I have to form a colonial nation and then to release it to form Texas, or can I just move the capital there?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Nope! It's not clear in the tooltip, but you can't move your capital if you have a lot of land in Europe, even if you destate everything.
Feeding a vassal all provinces expect for your capital state doesn't work either.
So, I guess, either you remain very small, or you have to release the colonial nation.

EDIT EDIT: If you're interested, yes, you get the achievement if you release colonial Mexico.
It has to have the capital in the Rio Grande region (colonize it first, and develop a random province) in order to become Texas.

I remained very small and thus could move the capital. Thus moved capital to the new world when I got the achievement back in june.

If you are too big. Return a province or 2 or sell provinces to get small so you can move capital.

Thanks, but I've already done the achievement :)
I had 29 provinces in Italy, and there was not much point in continue playing after the achievement, so I just released and play as colonial Mexico!

In order to move your capital to a colonial region it needs to be the only province you own on its continent IIRC. Easiest way is colonise a single province in Africa, move capital there, then move capital to the New World.

Oh, so if you own the whole state you can't move it?
I had not thought about the Africa exploit!

Yeah, you can only move your capital to the New World (or Oz & New Zealand) if it is the only province on its continent.

Moving capital to Africa and then to Texas is how I got the achievement.

This isn't completly true, it has to be the only stated province on the continent.

I've played around with the console and integrated every other nation in the world as tyrone. The way to move your capital to the new world after that is to release an irish minor as a vassal and feed them your other capital states provinces, while keeping everything else as territories.

That's it! I couldn't remember if it was the only province or only stated province. :D
