There are 100 years left. I have control of Europe west of the Commonwealth. I have protectorated every country in the Americas (one of them bordered my West Indian colony but for some reason hasn't westernized), almost all of India, and parts of Africa. Once I take ADM tech 26, in 2 years, every remaining country will take only 2 wars to annex, including the Commonwealth, Persia, and Egypt.

However, there are some threats of Westernization: I was unable to prevent it from spreading from North Africa to West Africa, so all my protectorates in West Africa are beginning to westernize, and I've had to vassalize 2 of them, taking up valuable diplomatic relations slots. Even more worringly, though Kazakh is supposed to take the Economic idea group only as its 6th group, it took it as its 5th (possibly because the other option was Diplomatic, which would be silly, since they were a vassal), and is 4 ideas away from reforming. I've also vassalized the Oirats, but they're 1 ADM tech away from their next idea group, and there is a chance they will also take Economic (instead of Expansion) and reform. I'm planning to annex Kazakh and feed Oirat, and in any case, I can halt Indian westernization by just building a wall of trade company provinces. But if Oirat reforms and westernizes then Ming will do so to, and later everyone else in Asia, which will make the WC way more annoying, if not impossible.

Also, I have no free relation slots, which is bad since I'll probably need to vassalize some more countries. I can't really diploannex Tlemcen or Tunis since they have the +100% DIP cost because of the +100% coring cost idea; I can probably diploannex Cornwall (almost done), Galicia, Sweden, and Munster. I guess I can also just conquer provinces myself (since I don't need ADM for tech after getting the last Admin Efficiency tech) and feed my HRE vassals, so that should help ease the burden on my DIP points, and I can even delete my Exploration ideas if I really need points (hopefully not, though I'll need DIP points to take provinces myself...)

So if I'm interpreting my situation correctly, I should be fine as long as Oirat doesn't take Economic ideas once they hit their next ADM tech. Is this likely? And if they do take Economic ideas, will I have enough time to conquer/vassalize everything else before they reform and westernize?

You have a lot of ground to cover. I'd start protectorating East Asia ASAP to avoid any surprises.

BTW, make sure everything is explored before deleting Exploration!

That shouldn't take too long, especially since I can protectorate Ming by just occupying its capital, 100%'ing one of its allies, and waiting 5 years.

You might be surprised. If you have to make lot of protectorates some of the targets might fight each other while you're attacking one. This means that when you're making one a protectorate you're suddenly at war with your own (now former) subject.

No idea why you let ugly PLC to contaminate the map with their local nobility, but I'd say it's still doable as adm efficiency is said to be available at earlier tech now, and this thing was a game-changer for my WC.

I don't know if this works, but i was thinking about it when i did my WC - if you feed your vassal a province they can't core then they will be permanently overextended and so wouldn't be able to westernise (as westernising can't start while overextended).

In the end i was feeding my vassal (Oirat as well) provinces so fast that it was never able to tech up to the level to where it could have reformed, so I wasn't able to test it out, but maybe it would work?

I played until 1733, and I took big bites out of Egypt, Najd, and the Commonwealth, and I protectorated a few more Asians. Kazan will be annexed in about 4 years (during which time I will not be gaining any DIP). If luck is on my side, Oirat won't take Economic ideas when they finally take ADM 17, and no one will westernize in the year it takes me to sell all of Kazan's border provinces to Oirat. Anything else I should be careful about?

If anyone starts to westernise and isn't a protectorate go to war with them, simply to raise their WE and get more reactionary rebels.

Hmm, is there a way to get a popup when someone starts to westernize? I tried searching for it in the message settings, but I couldn't fine it. Does their tech become Western immediately when they start westernizing, or only after they finish?

better start munching on Persia.

Good call. They should only take 2 wars (assuming DIP isn't limiting), and Genoa is ready to eat some more provinces (as am I).

Vassals can't sell provinces to anyone, even for free.

can't you diplo vassalise persia? Or others? 40 base tax is a lot in a country with 1-2 base tax provinces. I could dipllo vassalise persia (full fledged almost except for the astrakhan cores) as foix, pity i never had the chance to go out of war to do so.

1.8 removed the ability to sell provinces to vassals outside their coring range. However, I guess I can transfer an occupation to them and give them the province? Hmm, should I cancel my annexation of Kazan and try that? Because if I annex it, some countries may westernize before I can sell all the border provinces to Oirat...

Well, Persia won't accept an alliance with me (for obvious reasons), and I can't marry them (since they're a different religion), so I don't think that's possible.

you can diplo vassalise any state now, afaik, with any religion? I could ally and vassalise persia as catholic if i wanted, but i never got the chance to end all wars to do so since i had to redeclare on nations coming out of truce. Unless the tooltip was lying to me.

And you don't get my remark right: YOUR vassals can NOT sell provinces they can't core to anyone, like other nations can. If you give occupation to an ally, and give province to thm in peace deal, they WILL sell it to whoever that accepts it, if they can NOT core it. Point i'm trying to make: it would be brilliant if you can prevent westerning vassals by giving them a province they can't core. The can't ever westernize then, not from colonizer provinces either. It would prevent nations westernising in asia in your current wc.

Anyways, thread carefully now. Don't play that wc anymore, don't waste time until you got a battleplan to complete the WC I have seen many folks failing wc becuase they overlooked this or that Like a colonial nation from PU or vassal that doesn't count towards WC etc. Or the newly added states you likely need exploration for to uncover them on map.. The new state in indonesia region comes to mind, ne from brunei.

Any wc is possible with micromanaging. You wil have to avoid coalitions, maybe do ten wars at once etc, but it can be done no doubt. Heck, i have seen ddrjake conquer whole europe in the last 100 years in his second ryukyu wc domination.

All a wc needs is careful planning. The big states are easy, just make sure you go all colonial nations ans random states here and there covered.

Yeah, I agree. I ended up just annexing Persia with 2 wars; since they had protectorated Gujrat, and I gave Persia's capital to Milan, Milan got Gujrat as a protectorate. Fortunately, I was still able to get the WC by forming the HRE and annexing Milan. I checked the world map many many times to make sure I didn't miss something in the Pacific or Indonesia or the Americas. I almost missed a Siberian tribe, but I found them after I saw their army invade Ryukyu while I was attacking Japan. But I finally did manage to complete the WC, and I'm hoping that I won't have to ever play a game as tedious as this one (though it was still fun).
