Can i buy the UK version as a german?

I am not asking if its legal. I am asking if its possible. As in: Amazon or something. Or is it not possible to use a UK key in german Steam?

I want a UK version because the german laws are still outdated and say games are toys and not art and so the use of nazi symbols AKA hitlers portrait are forbidden in german versions of HOI4. I just wanna buy the UK version as a big fuck you to our laws. Maybe someday they say games are art..... oh wait nevermind. Forgot that there are still many german politicians thinking games create mass murderers and are a waste of time.

You can mod out the censorship, at the very least. And you can (probably) use a VPN to trick Steam into thinking you're not in Germany.

I think it has been stated by the devs that even the steam version will be censored in Germany. I'm not sure if you can activate an UK key in your region, or if it registers as a German version. You can use a proxy to hide your location, but I wonder if it's worth it. You can easily mod the face of evil into the game without changing the checksum.

You can buy and activate the uncensored version on steam completly legally. The USK cant ban games, they dont have any authority. Games that dont recieve an USK badge only cant be openly advertised, but still be bought by grown adults in germany. By german law it is perfectly legal to buy those uncensored games if you are 18. The problem is of course, why would resellers buy something they cant advertise and would have to hide under the counter untill someone asks about it. Amazon for example does that since years that they offer the imported UK and the Austrian versions for germans.

It should be noted that steam will download whatever you activate. If you activate an russian key, you will download the russian version, if you get the uncensored international version, you download the uncensored international verison, regardless of your location. My Hearts of Iron III for example is fully uncut on steam aswell. You should also know that for some reason Valve decides to put an geo-block on international keys for HoI IV it is NOT ALLOWED to use an VPN to bypass that.

Has nothing to do with the law, go and check § 86 StGB.

Edit says: You can always replace the shadowed image with an unshadowed one as thats pretty much all thats different. Doesnt change the checksum either.
