Because I didn't like the thought of my recent posts being deleted, here is attached screencap from what happened in this thread later.

(btw: tried uploading it here but got an error...)

I'm afraid I didn't get your last post Epaminodas, but I did read it.
I still think there is some kind of misunderstanding between us.
It's not like I'd love to see 0% trade eff as something natural and expected. Quite the contrary, it would be extreme situation with overwhelming advantage of one side and almost absolutely destroyed fleet from the other (with the pitful rest of fleet who survied blockaded in the ports). Still, it would be achievable.
If I could do any changes concerning sea trade efficiency in the code of DH, then it would be something like this:
1. everything stays like it's now (trade blockade is up to 50% only)
2. implementing extra diplomacy option, for example "declare blockade against" which would allow (of course still depending of the size of fleet and its placement etc) further drop even to theoretical 0%.
Such option would cost us some diplomatic repercussions though: belligerency hit, bad relations with neutrals who're trading with blockaded by us enemy, maybe even interventionism slider move for them - resulting with extra possibility to make them join enemy alliance.

I reckon you know me well enough to call me Epa, richie - Epaminondas is just way too many keystrokes.

Putting it the way you just have, it's apparent that I've indeed been over-interpreting you. What you've suggested is a nice mix of actions and effects that would allow players to fully engage the complexity of the trade game you propose or just let it pass. I'd still dig in my heels at 0% but that's really an academic objection when it comes down to the quanta of trade that would be involved.

Considering that they're doing this free and in their spare time, I don't see any hope at all of getting the devs to make this kind of change but as Sam Spade once said, "It's the stuff dreams are made of".

I liked your previous conclusion guys about adding an embargo button that combined with your navy power will make blockades more effective.

I know little of modding or game development, but I think that maybe that's easier to do.
