There is no clock in the game, days pass by in seconds. However what are the consequences of a Cim getting to work "late", or in a less than ideal time?

If a Cim worked in a shop, would the shop eventually close because no employees can work it? If not why should you carefully plan your road network?

I'd like martial law to be a city-wide policy. Activate it and your income will nosedive and become negative, soldiers and army equipment will be deployed, curfews enacted and no cims are allowed to leave. In extreme circumstances you can then elect to build a perimeter around the map, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. This will also allow you to erect great statues of yourself as Great Leader.
Prisons get turned into death camps and you can of course start to develop nukes at this point.

Well if you have to enact martial law in any city your income probably bottomed out, already. Riots in the streets...utilities/emergency services stretched to the limit...how will a city survive?

I love this idea, and now I don't know why.

Brings up another interesting question, can a cim lock himself down in his home for days, not communicating with the outside world, playing Cities: Skylines? I mean, are we trying to simulate real life here people, or what?

In reality places dont close down cos people miss or are late for work. People normally leave in time to get there no matter how long it takes, otherwise they get sacked.

On simcity everybody left at the same time to get to work, in reality people set off at completely different times, so random is probably more accurate.

My first thought was: "How would you know if they're late or not?"

All you need to know is: smooth flowing traffic (easier said than done) is your main concern. If that's ok, the rest will fall into place.
