Basically, can you go the fascist route, get a fascist elected and ally Germany as Britain?
Cool! I'm new to the HOI games. Can you elect real life leaders like Oswald Mosley or Chamberlain?Faction Leaders can dismantle factions at any time IF they and their puppets are the only member left. They then can either create a new one or join another.
There are elections ingame and leaders can change and/or even die from events for example. Changing the ideology will have different leaders aswell of course. You also build your own cabinet of advisors that give bonuses in certain areas, like better industria production, a daily political power (the currency for such actions) increase or even bonuses to your troops etc.Cool! Yes.
So that's basically... No?Faction Leaders can dismantle factions at any time IF they and their puppets are the only member left. They then can either create a new one or join another.
Aye however don't forget the focus trees, I think they can force ideological change. Also there are events where King Edward doesn't abdicate, and turns Britain Fascist I believeSo that's basically... No?
UK starts in a faction with Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and British Raj. Only the Raj is a puppet. The chances of the Commonwealth countries all surrendering and UK not surrendering seem pretty remote. Especially as joining the Axis means that the Allies must not already be in a war with the Axis, so it's the Comintern or non-aligned countries that would have to be invading the Commonwealth.

I recall a developer stating Mosley could take control of the country, and pictures of Fascist UK with Edward on the throne. I'd suspect Chamberlain is a possible democratic leader.Oswald Mosley
It is definitely possible to switch to Fascism as Britain, which can lead to some fun stuff happening in your country.
As for foreign policy, faction members are generally none too pleased when their faction leader changes ideology, so it might not be that hard to dismantle a faction once you've gotten going on your journey to a new political extreme.
Any country can change ideology, it's just that some will be harder than others. For example, it shouldn't be easy to turn the United States communist, or the Soviet Union fascist. But with enough time and effort, it should be possible. Be careful, though. When turning a country like USA or USSR to another ideology, chances are you'll find yourself engaged in a civil war. When you're here, I want to ask. Can the player switch ideology with all the major countries ? Because the German tree and the Soviet tree in the dev diaries don't seem to allow it. They have been changed, or it's by event (but the tree stay good, whatever the ideology of the country ?) or some countries can't change their ideology ?

Faction Members can leave the faction (but you cant kick them) as far as i know. If you change ideology the other members surely will not be pleased about it and maybe leave. So that's basically... No?
