I'm new to EU, just bought Chronicles last week and I'm already hooked! Playing my first game as Scotland, starting the Grand campaign at 1399. I'm mostly focused on learning how to manipulate my economy and build-up my non-existent infrastructure. However, I honored my alliance with Sweden by sending three regiments against the Teutonic order to occupy an island in the Baltic Sea.

My navy was almost immediately destroyed after my troops landed, and we've since made peace. My question is this: How long can my regiments remain on the island now that the war is over? It will take me some months to build cogs.

Otherwise, as the title suggests, are my Scottish warriors able to use their bagpipes as flotation devices?

Thanks!

And no, they can stay there as long as you want, do mind that because it's not under your control the supply limit is significantly lowered, but I doubt that'll mind for three regiments.

Best title ever.

Floatation bagpipes are rare and expensive in the time period depicted in EU3. There aren't enough of them for an entire regiment, but when you try to kill your 3-3-3 king by sending him on a one-way trip to the depths of the sea, the floatation bagpipe will invariably bring him home safe and sound to reign for another 50 years.

Wonderful! I was worried that they'd eventually defect to the Teutonic Order. Instead, I'll tell them that they've earned a much needed vacation for ..... 3-6 months or so. haha

Thanks!

Hilarious! I actually did send my king with that regiment for exactly that purpose! The heir would be a much better ruler. Sadly, the bastard survived the engagement. Now I'm hoping that if I leave him out there long enough, perhaps he'll catch the plague or something. :ninja:

You know, I never even thought of deliberately killing off a leader. That's brilliant! Has anyone actually done this?

I tried several times with some weak kings, just by let them be the general of a 1k infantry stack, then they get attacked by your enemies.

Well actualy i tend to think even 3-3-3 king is good, as long as he got 100 legitimacy. But if he is 3-3-3 at low legit, you will allways get better if you kill him...
Erm, no. Not to go offtopic but every possible other king will be better or at least equal.
On an ontopic note: You can leave armies anywhere for pretty much always. In an MP game of mine I brought 5k troops to china in 1440. When Russians came knocking around 100 years later those same 5 regiments where still there, I would really love to know how their lives would have looked like, they pretty much did nothing but defend nanjing against peasant uprisings for 100 years.

Well, you can, but you can get also, even worse, because being on low legit. Also, you just can pray him to die...

Anyway, when i got even for heir to die, i just take "In arms of lord, I find a solace" because it is free temple, and the other just mean low legit, plus those are ussualy crappy heirs... and, it is possible to just get heir anyway...

With that event though you don't have the 8 stat cap, you can theoretically get a 9-9-9 monarch instead of the regular 8-8-8 cap.

Yeah, your armies can stay there indefinitely. Don't know if that has any effect on relations though.

Incidentally, your last comment is going in my sig. :D

ship sinks, monarch breaks every world record for swimming and reappears instantly at your capital.

It's true. Had similar problems with rulers and tried it. Nothing works.

Well actualy, i do not know what are you talking about, i got few kings with stat that is 9. Not a 9-9-9 ruler, but i think it is possible to get such without an event... thou i might be wrong, but prove me wrong then...
