Hey all,
my questions is will there still be those campaigns where you can start a game in '44 or play a quick game about the war in north africa or in finland?

No, that feature won't be in HoI3

There will be a fixed number of scenarios.

You'll get all the scenarios from vanilla HoI2, so 1936, 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1944. Plus one extra, at the 1st of february 1943 (after the german surrender at stalingrad), which was chosen in a poll

Suggestions for 2nd HoI3 expansion (1st one is obviously going into 50'ties, just like in Doomsday) are pretty much going along those lines.

Keep reminding them of that, maybe they will do it.

Who said it's a ww2 game? It's a period game, which has usually covered the ww2 historic period. I just personally can't separate ww1 and ww2. Thus, I'd like a game that covers both. Peace events could make sure to have ww2 happen fairly accurately after ww1. Even if lets say you play Germany and win the war. Russia would still turn communist. France and Great Britain would have huge chips on their shoulder, US might feel threatened. WW2 might still happen.

I could be wrong, but in that video presentation it looked like there were 9 scenerio's on the start up map. Of course some of those are sure to be Battle Scenerio's.

I have a strong feeling almost all games is GC36. With GC44 on a distant second. And the short scenarios is bordering on unplayed. I can't recall a single thread about a a short scenario in HOI or HOI2...

Yea, that's pretty much what I would expect as well. BS are somehow used as tutorial tool and as "fast and furious" games, so I wouldn't scratch them right off. Not all players, despite what we might think, use those forums, let alone post on them.

But 1936 rules supreme as Paradox players are ultimate "what ifers" - giving them 3+ years to prepare for war is exactly what they want.

Keep in mind though, that scenario starting in 1914 (or better, 1911 or something) would be in essence different game, so it would gain its own fan group too. There are so few Great War games that it would be certainly something of notice on the market.

Even if they don't get nearly as much focus as the main campaign, I've actually played and enjoyed the battle scenarios quite much, so I hope they are included.

The greatest feat of future Paradox programers will be a game that starts with Summeria and finishes with the modern day, with all the major countries included and history fairly intact, while offering players the ability to change things with play-choices, with a game that is NOT Civilization.

Personally, I like the Grand Campaign best.
