I played Battletech when it first came out and got through 85% of the campaign, then I left and haven't been back until today. I did buy all the DLC and I started the campaign again. Will I see any of the new DLC, like city backgrounds in the campaign this time around or will it be the same campaign, but with some different mechs and new weapons from some of the DLC?

Also I see in the advertisement that Paradox indicates this is their "final patch for Battletech..." Is this the end of DLC and patches or did someone at Paradox simply goof? I saw when I opened the newly installed game that it appeared Paradox was still selling the season pass for this game. Thanks!

It was, indeed, the final patch barring any bugfix patches; ongoing development is ended. The Season Pass is just a bundle of the three DLCs, so there's no reason not to sell that.

Just to clarify, none of the pre-scripted campaign missions (e.g the one to acquire the Argo) will be in urban environments. The regular campaign missions will still be the same (although I think one of the recent patches did a minor balance pass that will affect some things, and of course you have more general things like AI upgrades).

The random missions (the ones you get offered in any system), however, may incorporate DLC maps/features, and any random mechs have the ability to be appropriate DLC mechs. So, for instance, a random light mech could spawn as a Flea from the Heavy Metal expansion, or a generic convoy escort could be in a city. Likewise, shops may stock weapons and mechs from the expansions (so you could see a shop selling a Crab from the Flashpoint expansion or a NARC launcher from the Heavy Metal expansion). Note that a couple of mechs (most notably the Raven and the Hatchetman) are only unlocked once certain conditions are met (beating the relevant flashpoints).

After you finish the final mission of the regular campaign, you'll start seeing the flashpoints (special, more detailed missions with better payouts) start spawning. If you choose the career mode instead, you get flashpoints spawning from day one (but you don't get the campaign missions).

Has anyone done Defend : Panzyr after 1.9?

Do the new movement rules in 1.9 mean that the APC can drive straight past your blocking mechs now?

BATTLETECH abstracts actual combat which is happening at the speed of 60 to 120kph BANG!

I think it has been an unintended exploit since launch that such APC’s can be “blocked” in the first place.

Maybe.

But that particular campaign mission is already one of the harder ones and having to kill all six APC before one drives past you (some spawn only two turns away from the comms centre) will make it particularly challenging.

And I would argue in this case trying to drive around a 5m wide 60 tonne mech standing in a 10 m wide doorway is kamikaze driving worth of the the Fast and the Furious!

That’s just it, BATTLETECH takes the realities of the Mech, Vehicle, indeed all Mech and Vehicles on the map are all MOVE/FIRE/KILL-Chaining simultaneously... and breaks it down into bite-sized pieces.

But just like my TableTop crew, we sometimes lose sight of the Combat Reality Forrest, for the game mechanic abstraction of only one Mech or Vehicle acting its Chain out at a time.

And yes, this mission is a challenging one, I agree and enjoy it all the more because of that... occassionally having to reload a safe, when I’m. It running Iron Man. Which is fine with me. But for this Mission HBS has been quite conservative in the weights and firepower of the AI Mechs here, especially when I routinely have two Heavies (one maybe even an Assault by this point) on the Mission.

I’ll have to go back to my last non-Ironman Campaign and see if I have this Mission remaining in my queue and give it a go... but I may have deleted it... : (

I usually have enough tonnage and firepower that taking out the APCs is not a problem. You just have to make sure to position your lance well.

Plus running up the hill to get to the APC heading to the barracks takes one of your units out of position to protect the base (as well as opening it to rear attacks, so armor up all over). But the reward is operational turrets that take the some of the heat off your lance.

I finally played an Escort Mission in 1.9 and it is different. I escorted the friendly APCs almost all the way to the extraction (with one escorting mech), and then ran to engage the enemy (with the remainder of my Lance). The APCs started to move away from the extraction zone and towards me lol. Even the 1 APC that was in the evac area when I ran off, left the zone to stay with the rest of the APCs. I had to send one guy back to them to get them to move into the evac zone and extract.

I need to keep that in mind for next time :)
