So it's pretty hard to get nations that feel threatened by you to join in your wars. Somehow, that doesn't make sense to me. Think about it:

"My liege, Greater Blobonia has asked us to honor our alliance and join their war against Evilia!"

"What! Greater Blobonia! No way are we helping them grow even bigger!"

"But sire, don't you think having an alliance with them might keep them from attacking us?"

"No way! In fact it would be better if they had a dishonored call casus belli against us! That'll really keep us safe!"

... what do you guys think?

Spot on.

It's even more frustrating with the randomization of which nations start out Threatened. A Burgundy start without Castile and Aragaon both willing to help you against France (ie either of them starting Threatened) - I say "nah, screw you RNG, I'm quitting and restarting."

"Then they must be struggling! Now is the time to finally strike back at them, and get on even footing!"

I had this happened. Scotland refused to help me in my war because they felt threaten thus breaking my alliance with them. I turned around and conquered them for their insolence. What a WASTE of diplomatic slots if they will not to help out. Makes it pointless to ally strategic smaller nations.

Indeed. Every time a neighboring ally goes threatened, it's like ok . . . guess it's time to free up the diplo slot and go conquer them. It's kind of counterproductive on their part.

This is the exact reason why I dont RM unless I will get a PU, vassal, the country is way too strong(otto, france, russia) that I wont attack to way later anyway or catholic and will be curia.
The RM prevents war without stability hit, if my allies are threatened by me, then they are obviously weaker than I am, so if you wont help me, then no need to keep you alive.

There are still 3 reasons for allying weaker states:
1. To vassalize them.
2. To secure their Elector vote (HRE only)
3. Nations you are allied with only gain 5-10% of your AE. This means allying with your neighbours will permit you to first military annex all other neighbours without coalitions forming in your back, before you can turn arond, cancel the alliances and steamroll the other direction.
