OK, every body, you are now free to call Snow King insane. In fact, clinically insane. I just-reinstalled EU1!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

And so naturally, to make the most of my glorious return, I will write an AAR on my first game back. As: Portugal! I will now lead this tiny nation to fame from a three province minor to, hopefully, the master of West Africa, Brazil, North Africa, and the East Coast of the US. Those are my goals. Since I haven’t played for sooooo long, I’m almost like a newbie again :D . Enjoy!

Insanity of the Snow King: 1492-1500

In the years 1492-1500, Portugal did not expand much, but it sure did change in policy. The once voyages to India were canceled in favor of voyages to America. Multiple explorers were sent out, and soon Brazil and Carolina were discovered. As the Portugese explored further, they set down colonies and traders everywhere they went. Soon, colonies were established in Ferdinando Po and Delaware, and Trading posts in the East Coast, Dakar, and Brazil.

The king decreed it was galling to have Muslims on the southern border, and plans were made for an attack on Morocco. Soon, they had a stroke of luck, spies had stolen Spain’s maps! Now
they knew of the Carribean and the Middle East.

More to come!

His true insanity shows.

Guys, this AAR is gonna be short. REAL SHORT. In fact, it will end with this post. :(

The Portugese continued to promote trade and colonization. In fact, all 13 colonies were finished, Brazil was explored and Exploited, and a TP was established in India.

Than the government (me) commited an act of stupidity. They invaded Morocco. Initial battles were won, but then the Moroccans counter attacked and drove them out, eventually capturing Tangeirs and putting the Portugese to shame. The government, desperately bankrupt, refused to give up. Sadly.

Soon the entire war was lost, and the Portugese were forced to give up Tangeirs. Deep in debt and politically unstable, the King (me) resigned.

So much for Portugal. :D

Hmm, basic summary: I tried to play a too EU2y game. In essence, I counted on superior technology that wasn't there.

I'll have to find another nation. Suggestions?

Nice to see folks own up to the unsuccessful games as well as the successful ones!

Sorry about Portugal getting its head handed to it. Was there a particular reason behind the refocus of attention from colonizing Asia to colonizing the Americas?
