Call it Brahmanism, not Hinduism.

The majority faith of the Indo-Aryans may today be refered to as Hinduism, but in the time of the Mauryan the faith is usually referred to as Brahmanism as it was still subdividing into modern forms of Vedic and Dharmic philosophies, such as Buddhism, Jainism, and the now extinct Ajivika.

I am hoping we get more historical names than things like "Suomenusko" and "Romuva" in I:R as using modern versions of a faith to describe a more ancient form tends to muddy the representation.

Just call it Hinduism. The word Brahmanism was coined by Gonçalo Fernandes Trancoso in the 16th century. So even that would be "inappropriate" because that's not what the Vedic-era Indians called their religion either and is "modern" (when you're talking about dates in BC, 16th Century is definitely modern).
