Just a quick observation, CAGs draw org and moral from Fighter, CAS and NAV doctrines, does this mean that they develop SUPER org if all these doctrines are researched. I've also noticed that the RN CAGs do put up a good fight against my land based fighters can cags be a one size fits all unit for naval aviation powers (ie they can effectively be used on land as well as at sea) or will they get kicked all about the houses and sent home crying ?

If CAGs go against equally modern INT (or multi-roles) they should "get kicked all about the houses and sent home crying".
However, it is true that they highly benefit from doctrine upgrades. The downside is that you have to invest huge amounts of leadership to keep CAGs up to date. And even then, they will not be able to effectively bombard ground troops or installations, and their range is not pretty as well.

If you look at the numbers, where FTR, CAS, and NAV get +5% Organization and Morale per doctrine level, CAG only gets 2%. Since 3x2% = 6%, not 5%, CAG can get slightly higher ORG and Morale over time, but it's inherently quite a bit weaker to begin with. By the tail end of the war, if you pay the Leadership price to keep all six pilot and ground crew training doctrines up to par, it can begin to rival INT in effectiveness, but not catch it. Earlier, it should get its posterior punted quite thoroughly. If that's not happening, either you're doing something wrong, or else the UK has enacted the "Their Finest Hour" decision for a cheezy and powerful 6 month air combat bonus, similarly ridiculous and overpowered as the German "Blitzkrieg" decision on the ground.
