Since I cannot find a "What is CORE?" thread, I'll just make one here. I am interested in it, but simply don't know what it is. So here are my questions:
I am running Doomdsday with 1.3a and DAIM. Will CORE run?
Could someone explain the major changes to me please?

I wouldn't mind having this in a sticky thread, as it would save us the hassle of having to explain the workings of CORE over and over again. Unfortunately we can't sticky things, so for now questions like these pop up time and again. So once again, here you go. :)

CORE's main aim is to make HoI as historical as possible, whilst covering plausible ahistorical scenarios aside from the historical ones. That will ensure that the game will go historical nine times out of ten, but there's always the odd surprise. Our Munich chain alone is 200+ events, which proves my point I guess. :rolleyes:
As such CORE introduces SS units as well as 'normal' ones, but unlike other mods they aren't super units per sé - their strength and experience vary from unit to unit, and you can't build SS units other than by event.

Furthermore we completely revised and expanded the tech trees, and as such you just can't research it all... CORE forces you to focus, and thus pick your strength and weaknesses. As such our model range is rather large compared to Vanilla. We cover small, 6-division units as well as 9-division ones, and have 'Reserve' units rather than Militia. Those reserves are the mainstay of most of the semi- and non-industrialized nations.
Other features include negative energy production (i.e. civilian use of energy and oil), rares scarcity, 1:1 naval representation and our own graphics mod.

As a member of the CORE dev team I can assure you that we use mod-dir exclusively, so there's no harm in trying it out. Whether it runs in a DD+DAIM configuration I can't say for sure, so a 'probably' seems like the best bet.
CORE comes with a manual, explaining the most elementary differences and the CORE philosophy. The major downsides of CORE right now are an AI that needs further improvement (scheduled for the next upcoming release, where we will migrate to an AI based on that of TRP), the time it takes to get a good feel with the ins and out of our vast tech trees, and the addictiveness of CORE (especially the tech trees).

I certainly would install either the CORE B&W graphics pack add-on or GIP combined with the CORE in Color graphics pack add-on.

The installer program (which is what you download) will create the mod-dir subfolder automatically - it isn't a separate programme or anything. Just run the Installer file, and it will start an interface asking where you want to install the game (and offer a default option) and whether it is for DD or ARM, etc.

Install?

Ok I went to the site but I can't download anything, even the new CORE. I downloaded mine ffrom TRPs website as a WINRAR file. It came with no install file that I can find at all. Should I extract it somewhere? Can I get just the install program from someone? I looked at the manual and it looks really cool, but this install is killing me!
