Nations created through a civil war event (ie Nat. Spain) have the same techs as the nation they broke away from.

Having run a few hundred HOI games, my experience is that Germany bypasses the Maginot line. I've not seen the problem you describe since version 1.01. To use C.O.R.E. you need to be running version 1.03b or 1.04 as some event commands that we use were introduced in patches.

Has anybody thought about this?

The whole Vichy France part of the game is under developed, Im currently adding some events for it. Just about finished coding them.

I will look at Vichy France techs after this. Do you have any recommendations as to what techs it should start with? Perhaps all of the French techs to date, and having to start from stratch the ones it was working on?

- From an initial point of view, I think that sounds like a pretty good base to start from. Maybe that's really all that needs to be done to it.

Apart from the tech question, if there have been major set backs for the Axis and particularly the Germans, maybe there should also be included specific Vichy surrendering events if attacked by Commonwealth or US forces plus follow up German occupation events of Vichy France (if this has not been added to the game already)?

- Strange, in neither case has this been my experience (I run ver. 3.04.).

I verified the tech aspect yesterday by starting a 1.04 game, running it up to the Civil War, saving, exiting and reloading as Nationalist Spain. They had the exact same techs as Republican Spain, no exceptions.

Here's a cut'n'paste from the save game, it shows all NatSpain techs at July 19th, 1936:

techapps = { 12001 11001 11004 14001 14014 1001 6003 6004 3002 3005 4001 4101 4102 4201 4202 4203 4204 3101 14005 1107 4301 4302 4303 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 3001 6005 6006 6012 11002 13004 }
techlevels = { 12000 13000 11000 14000 1000 1100 2000 5000 6000 9000 10000 8000 8100 3000 3100 4000 4100 4200 4300 }

Okay, I'm convinced. It's only that, when I've played Sweden, I have given away all my techs to Nationalist Spain just to achieve some balance (a lot). I also checked what I could share with Republican Spain and that was only a handful of techs.

Maybe, the techs that Nationalist Spain actually has, doesn't show up in the diplomatics section?

Im trying to understand how the current event system (un modded) changes ministers after Vichy France is created.....

Is this built into the code or is it a series of events. Ive had a look at the events file for Vichy France but cant see were the ministers are set for Vichy? Can anyone clear this up?

If you sleep a minister then that position is vacant and can be filled with any available candidates. You can use events to sleep ministers or to appoint replacements directly. I'm uncertain how capable the AI is at replacing ministers and many human players may overlook this aspect so either make new appointments via event or at least point out that a replacement is needed when you sleep an active minister.

An event based on Copper Nicus' work (Poland -> Breaking Enigma 702028 event):
Code:
event = {
	id = XXXXXX
	random = no
	country = FRA

	trigger = {
		alliance = { country = POL  country = FRA )
		}

	name = "Enigma handed over to the Allies"
	desc = "During 30's, polish military intelligence acomplished many successes in operations

against german Abwehr. The most important was creating a copy of Enigma encryption machine by group

of polish mathematicians, M. Rejewski, J. Rózycki and H. Zygalski. In August 1939 polish

intelligence invited a group of allied scientists to Kabaty palace, a secret decryption research

centre, and handed a copy of german Enigma to them."
	style = 0

	date = { day = 1 month = august year = 1939 }
	offset = 1

	action_a = {
		name = "Analize the Enigma" # Marvellous
		command = { type = gain_tech which = 3104 } # Basic Encryption Devices
		command = { type = gain_tech which = 3101 } # Binary Coded Machine Language
		command = { type = gain_tech which = 3200 } # Cavity Magnetron

If you need more reference, check out USSR "Man of Steel" event series - in every event former minister is put to sleep and new one is appointed at the same time.

Vichy events

Ok. No more ranting. Here are my first events for CORE! Generalisimo can you please add these to your distribution.

If anyone has any comments or recommendations plz let me have them.

The only problem I found through [VERY] extensive testing is that the inherit command doesnt seem to do anything if you [the player] are the nation being inherted/annex!

About SPR being allied with SOV after communist coup

This issue has been discussed in the 0.2 thread, but i think that further discussion must be held here.

The communist coup happens more or less in 50% games, and the immediate consequence of this coup is SOV being allied with SPR. Sometimes it´s too late for them to change the course of war, in my last two games it happened but SPR was annexed anyway, but the problem is that after the war ends, SOV continues at war with SPA.

IMHO, we should take two measures:

-As somebody told in 0.2 forum (Copper Nicus i think), reduce the alignment towards Commie with the communist coup event. That´s the first and obvious measure, in addition it would make the event more historical, because historicaly the coup didn´t make SPR to be closer to SOV. The soviet union lend SPR materialhelp since the beggining of the war in change of a payment in gold, and after the communist coup nothing changed, the help and the gold traffic continued the same. Also, when the war finished, the Sov union didn´t make any efforts to help refugees even with a pro-communist government. In fact, the communist coup only made things worst at home and the relations with the rest of europe and didn´t make any difference in the relations with the soviet union.

-We should make an event that, even if SPR is SOV allie, if SPR is annexed and SPA wins the SCW, SOV is offered to leave the war giving SPA their legitime territories (if SOV has any) and restoring the peace. The Soviet Union was never interested in extend its territories in that latitude, less if it would have meant a war in a far, far and poor country.
