But maybe as Finns - as far as I know, Stalin's Line ended in St. Piter. :)

I think you are right, the northernmost I can find is the Karelskij Ukrepljenyj Rajon which seems to have been only 50km from Leningrad. Looks like level 1-2 fort at most to me...

KaUR (Karelskij Ukrepljenyj Rajon) or Karelian fortified area is one more mighty fortress in vicinities of St. Petersburg.

After conclusion of the Tartu's treaty the new border line of Soviet state passed in 30-50 km's from Leningrad city. "Narodny Komissar" (Defense Minister) K.Voroshilov signed the order to begin the construction of strengthenings on the new border in 1928.

KaUR consist of two defense lines - main and rear. Defense lines consist of a circuit battalion areas of defense (BRO - Battalion Rajon Oborony). BRO has the sizes 3-5 kms in front and 2-3 kms in depth and intended for one independent battalion garrison (near to 600-800 personnel). There are the 10-15 machine-gun and 1-3 artillery concrete pillboxes in the each BRO. The intervals between BROs were covered by artillery and machine-gun fire tightly. The BROs are covered the main roads and located on the ground so the intervals between them filled with bogs, lakes and remote places.

Concrete installations of KaUR are machine-gun blockhouse of 3,4 or 6 embrasures (7.62 mm Maxim machine gun). They are two types - big and small, has two stores and usually were constructed without strewing of earth. The thickness of walls is near to 1.2 m., the floor - 0.8 m. The pillboxes can provide flanked and frontal fire and can cover each other.

There are also the artillery half kaponier for one ore two casemates guns (L17 system - 75/30 mm caliber). These are the big two storeys installations with strewing of earth intended for covering intervals between BRO. Precise number of KaUR installations is not known (150-300 I think) because lack of materials.

Considering the number of people affected by the purges (40.000?) we should perhaps also add a -50 manpower command, optionally partially restored in the amnesty event. Great work on the events btw :D

Well, main problem with purges is lack of purged officers on the HoI lists. Of course, "vierhushka" is here (Tuchachevsky, Yegorov, Blucher), but not many komandarms or komkors. SOV leader list is basically designed to balance game, not to provide historical background - some of the leaders described as marshals (is soviet army we should count marshals and generals of the army) reached this rank at the end of 40-ties, half of the 50-ties or even later.
I'm suprised that Brezniev is not on the list. ;) :D

But back to the event - 50 manpower loss is good idea, since for now it's impossible to make purges more historical (in terms of particular lost leaders).

M-R Pact economic effects

As per my post (a few pages back) about USSR shipments to Germany during 1938-1941, I'd like to see the economic effects linked in with the M-R pact. This will give a German player a good reason to follow the historical path. Is anybody willing to pick up the coding job or should I dive in and do it?

Note that right now Germany doesn't need those resources, at least not for a human player on very hard difficulty (-20% IC), because Germany seems to capture too much resources in their wars. Any bright ideas on how to reduce this effect? Here's a few to get the dialogue started :D

- Resource "evacuation" of some resources from threatened European capitals to UK through events. Drawback is that UK is likely at max stockpile anyway.

- Blockade events. With the British and French navy blockading Germany, pre-war trade routes were cut off and Germany relied on imports from USSR, Far East, Scandinavia etc. This could be represented with events that deduct resources for Germany.

- Waiting for patch 1.05 and praying for some Paradox fix despite this potentially being a WAD. ;)

General opinion on balancing (read: making hard for Germany) CORE - let's use V.Hard/Furious as a base. Most of the players use this level, I'm also balancing techmod according to the results seen on this level.

EDIT:
About M-R - Stalin's Line will also add to the gains/loses - if R-M is not concluded, then SOV would have lev 4 forts on the West Border.

Is the M-R pact events in C.O.R.E. 0.21 release the latest version or has anybody done additional work on it? Today I will start work on the economic effects of a British blockade and from the M-R pact.

Stalin's line is still posted on this board, but I'll post to Generalissimo, it would be good to add it in 0.22 or any next version...

New order events in CORE?

Hi,

I have checked out Yogi's new order event download and it includes very interesting partizan events in the USSR, after Germany takes certain provinces, that reduce German MP and supplies and decrease soviet dissent.
All in all a very big set of changes, apparently running fine on 1.04.
He has also included a "surprise" when the Germans close in on Leningrad and/or Moscow, I suppose this might be the activiation of militia divisions, there was a historic plan of raising 15 militia divisions in Leningrad alone! (in the end, 3 "regular" divisions were formed that got buchered around Lake Peipus)

I was wondering if (of course with his permission) we could include a big part of it in CORE and of course give him all the credit cuase this guy's done some major writing!

The "surprise" events raise 10 militia division and give +5 fort levels in both Leningrad and Moscow (so 20 total divisions). I'm not really comfortable with such an increase in fort levels since this is cumulative and both cities already have level 5 forts in 1936. Level 10 forts, maybe backed with level 10 AA, would certainly be a tough nut to crack - just check the threads about "Godlike Maginot" in the Stony Road forum and about "invincible Colmar" in GD forum. As a player you could probably crack it, but would AI Germany be able to muster enough force? Probably not :(

The militia divisions I don't mind :)

About the partisan events, perhaps Copper Nicus can comment on the partisan effects in the Tech Tree mod for C.O.R.E.

Thank you Steel, I will continue this thread... :D
First of all - IMO best part of New Order East is historical approach to German occupation options during Barbarossa. Yogi made great work with all USSR nations events, dissent hits nad bonuses from different occupations policies and so on. Some time ago I suggested asking Yogi for permise to add his work to CORE. However (there is always some sort of "however"...) adding those events is connected with carefull checking all already existing events, like creation of independent Ukraine, Vlasov events, Bolt's manpower events and so on. Similarly, adding New Order West will have an impact on German demands on former colonies events and probably a few more.

But it's definetely worth a try. New Order simply rules!

About partisans - in techmod for CORE (link to alpha version is available in Land techs thread) partisans are implemented as a technology (uninventable in standard way). This tech can be triggered by an event and it grants extra supply and fuel use for every land unit. So, when GER get this event (tech), what usually happens around 1941, they have to use roughly extra 40 supply points more (in case of 200 divisions), plus 20 oil (in case of 100 mot/mech/tank divisions) EVERYDAY. It can simulate loses of Germany due to the partisan attacks on the supply lines. Same event activates this tech for Japan.
Allies on the other hand got technology which make Partisan Attacks inactive (to ensure that they not gain it by random event).

Bigger resistance actions, like uprisings, Yugoslavia and so on should be implemented by separate events, though.

Does anyone have an idea on how many penal divisions the russians fielded?

Maybe an event giving the russians 15-20(again i dont know the number of divisions) Militia maybe even a few reg. inf. Divisions
once some of the larger cities like kiev and cant remember others right now:confused: fall.

The russians are in distress and call up the jails to recieve conscripts.
