Preview of Ecuador-Peru conflicts

I post here a provisional preview of the events dealing with the conflict Ecuador-Perú. They are still in a draft state, but I prefer to post them here in order to get some feedback.

I've done tons of events for EU2, but these are my first HoI events, so I've surely forgotten possibilities in the triggers and actions. please feel free to comment anything and suggest improvements.

Code:

Subsequently, in 1830, Pedemonte-Mosquera Protocol was
signed. They established the Marañon-Amazon River as the border
between Peru and Ecuador; however, Peru contested these agreements.
Between 1936 and 1938, representatives from Ecuador and Peru
 attempted to negotiate a treaty in Washington, D.C., consequently, the
Peruvians withdrew from the negotiations."

armor, together with artillery and air support moved quickly into the
southern coastal province of El Oro, threatening Guayaquil. The fewer than
1,800 Ecuadorian troops in the area lacked air cover and could offer only
limited resistance. The Ecuadorian president's fear of being left
unprotected from his political opponents led him to keep the nation's
 best fighting forces in Quito. Peruvian forces also moved into the disputed
Amazonian territory without significant opposition. After a campaign lasting
only three weeks, an armistice was arranged. The Rio Protocol of February
1942 awarded to Peru some 205,000 square kilometers of previously
disputed Amazon territory. The subsequent Protocol of Peace,

well, by now they look really good. :D

the conditions for every event are a bit messy, but i think you will work on that later, so i will *bash* about that later. :D

For example, before starting the war, Peru should check if starting a war with Ecuador could bring them in a war against an alliance. ;)
so, add to the event that starts the war this:
NOT = {
OR = {
alliance = { country = ECU country = ENG } # ECU not allied
alliance = { country = ECU country = GER } # ECU not axis
alliance = { country = ECU country = SOV } # ECU not commie
}
}

So, it will not send Peru to a war against a big alliance...
You can make an alternative event with those triggers (that is send to sleep by the previous event) that checks for the same, EXCEPT the "NOT = " clause, so it will check if ECU is IN an alliance... if that's the case, the choices for Peru will be diferent (that's the reason of the new event i am suggesting).

The protocol became the focus of a surge of Ecuadorian national pride and concomitant opposition in a new coalition: the Democratic Alliance. The coalition brought together a wide array of Ecuadorian politicians dedicated to replacing the 'president who had been unable to defend the national honor'. In may 1944, an uprising took place in Guayaquil that soon spread throughout the whole country."

what do you think. I'm dubious about the values of the colombian help to Ecuador, as well as of the dissent in the different events.

Another question: there were a lot of militar coups in Ecuador and Bolivia during these years, that could be simulated through events, I think, but it's a lot of work and a lot of reworking in the minister cabinets... what do you think, it's worth implementing? or better we leave it as it is now?

Did the coups affect the alignment of these countries, ie did they move towards democracy or fascism? If so it's quite relevant to have them in the game as it can affect if these countries would consider joining the Axis etc.

Not really, the coups were generally towards PA or RS in game-terms, but never really into fascism or communism. The countries always choose to look the war from the distance and try to get bonus from it. Many countries declared the war to the axis, but it was near the end of the war and more as a symbolic diplomatic gesture than any other thing.

btw, what about the events? ;)

I'm not very sure about using steel to simulate tin... ideas?

Looks good to me. Resource substitution is standard in events, I generally put rare materials (tungsten etc) into rubber but common materials (copper, tin etc.) into steel. Wood and coke go into coal, gas goes into oil.
