This is what i posted in Guinessmonkey's thread about the unitnames.csv mod, the unit names for ARG. Might be useful here, altough it is not very accurate (specially regarding unit sizes) and the * means pure speculation. Anyway it's just for the fun and i think it's very realistic anyway.

The more historically correct list, for the sake of historicity (instead of fun) is this one. Also it is more accurate regarding unit sizes.

No. Not merged, because the last list already includes all those regiments (inside the brigrades). The air force also is more accurate in the last list, because in fact there was only 1 air division in 1936. The air brigades, as seen on the 1st list, came much more later and were taken from the current ones. I also added the LASO (Lineas Areas del Sudoeste) which was created by the army months before than LADE (Lineas Aereas del Estado), both using german pre-war transport planes. So the last list is best, imho.

I say we should use the last list. The previous one has some appeal because of the quantity and fancy nicknames. :p But the last one is more realistic, especially regarding the size of the units.

I will soon prepare an OOB for 1936, 1939, and 1941, if possible.

Thanks Generalisimo for your time :)

This source is wrong. September the 1st, 1939 was the first (and the last as well...) day of classes at polish airborne forces military school that has just been opened. But this is slightly OT, I know...
Cheers

Then i guess that source missed that fact. Of course, the Polish paratroopers may have been the 5th ones to have jumped into a combat zone. ;)

Thx for the correction. It means that if Germany does not invade Poland (by that time), then Poland should had an airborne unit ready for combat by mid 1940.

Sarcasm noted. Well, the plan was to train the officers core until 1940, and the soldiers until 1941.

Bit of topic, but in current alpha of the techmod paras are much easier to activate (and much harder to build, same with fllets of transport planes). :D

No. No sarcasm here. I mean, what you said could be a good topic for a tech event where Poland gets some tech related to airborne units if the conditions are met by 1940 or 1941 (e.g. Germany is not at war with Poland and Poland controls Poland). This could lead players to research the other related techs so they can be able to use paras sooner than they would do it without such event.

It was just an idea... but for another thread. I went OT :p Sorry.

Generalisimo:

I am currently making changes to Argentina's 1.04 files, just in case there's interest in this.

The changes are ---->

In the unitnames.csv:
- already posted about the changes done to ARG.

In the province.csv:
- changed the terrain to really reflect the geography.
- changed the IC of most provinces (there were additions and substractions)
- changed the infrastructure of most provinces (again... there were additions and substractions)
- changed the man power of a few provinces (idem)
- i still have to find out about resources (e.g. 1 more oil in Comodoro Rivadavia or 1 in Junin de los Andes?, Coal in Lago Posadas)

In the argentina and arg files of the scenario folders:
- changed the OOB to reflect the chnages in the unitnames.csv file and to use a more realistic OOB (e.g. there were already 2 Mountain Brigades in 1936 afaik).

In the argentina file of the ai folder:
- tweaked a little bit the unit construction priorities but without altering the overall totals (e.g. added 1 here, deleted 1 from there, etc.). Research priorities were not modified (and probably will not be modified).

I will test the modifications first and then send to you the modifications in case you want to give it a try or include the changes in CORE.

Notice that Birch, who's working with the leaders names for 1.05, has already a big enough list of leaders and pictures for Argentina.

Later.

CAUSES OF CONFLICT:

The territorial dispute between Ecuador and Peru originated in Spanish Colonial times. Upon independence, Ecuador joined what is now known as"Great Colombia", comprised of the territories of Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia and Panama (then a part of Colombia). In 1829, the Treaty of Peace and Limits of Guayaquil was signed. Subsequently, in 1830, Pedemonte-Mosquera Protocol was signed. They established the Marañon-Amazon River as the border between Peru and Ecuador; however, Peru has contested these agreements. Between 1936 and 1938, representatives from Ecuador and Peru attempted to negotiate a treaty in Washington, D.C., consequently, the Peruvians withdrew from the negotiations. A series of border clashes were fought in the years between 1938 and 1940. Peru decided to settle the matter by force after a border clash in July 1941.

DESCRIPTION OF CONFLICT:

Ecuador was unprepared to meet the July 5 Peruvian invasion. The much larger Peruvian army of 13,000 men, supported by a battalion of armor, together with artillery and air support (known as Group of the North or agrupamiento del Norte commanded by General Eloy G. Ureta), moved quickly into the southern coastal province of El Oro, threatening Guayaquil. The fewer than 1,800 Ecuadorian troops in the area lacked air cover and could offer only limited resistance. The Ecuadorian president's fear of being left unprotected from his political opponents led him to keep the nation's best fighting forces in Quito. Peruvian forces also moved into the disputed Amazonian territory without significant opposition. Peruvian troops continuously attacked the nation's southern and eastern provinces until a ceasefire went into effect on July 31. After a campaign lasting only three weeks, an armistice was arranged.
The 1941 war with Ecuador was a major success for Peruvian forces. By theend of the month, when military actions ceased, Peru held Ecuador's southernmost province of El Oro and much of the disputed eastern jungle territory that had been part of Ecuador since the 1830s.

CONSEQUENCES OF CONFLICT:

The Rio Protocol of February 1942 awarded to Peru some 205,000 square kilometers of previously disputed Amazon territory. The subsequent Protocol of Peace, Friendship, and Boundaries (Rio Protocol) imposed on Ecuador acceptance of Peru's claims in the Amazonian region in return for Peruvian withdrawal from Ecuador's coastal provinces.
