Watch out world for the posts based on that site wanting to know why we don't have the Philipino Battleships in the game. It was interesting site to wander around in though, if a little fantastic. MDow

I'll see what i can do. I know i have some txt files saved somewhere in my HD with info on the panamerican conferences. I gathered that info before (during HoI 1.02) to later create some evens (which i never did).

Regarding Brazil: the brazilian government was even more autocratic paternalist than Argentina's, afaik. In fact, i think it was almost a fascist government. Curious things about history: they joined the allies and fought in Italy to defeat fascism while at home there was a repressive government. They fought bravely side by side with the americans against the fascist italians and the germans in italy. I think HoI should reflect this fact somehow, because i never saw Brazil joining the war in HoI.

I think that the CORE Team should replicate the entrance of Brazil in the war with a couple of scripted events were GER and USA offer tech and IC in exchange of alliance.
Cause as you said Brazil was THE autocratic paternalist nation of S.A. and even so joined the allies! Why?
The USA regarding politics, created a way of acting to saveguard their "backyard". To us they offered industrial techs and credit to start the industrialization process in exchange of a US operated base on Pernambuco (granting military access), which they used as a point to cross the atlantic and escape of the GER subs.

So the event should be scripted as a option to GER and USA to economic influence Brazil, if it is OK. Brazil should choose if they you accept their help or stay neutral. The acceptance of allegiance should be rewarded with industrial techs, a creation of commerce convoys oil vs rubber, increase of IC, and maybe some Warfare Doctrines. The other side should loose supplies and gain an ally.

Imagine a Axis Brazil on S.A.!!! or a clash of forces by the almost always Argentina+Bolivia Axis vs Allied Brazil.

Chaco War again

Ok I know that it has been said that the Chaco war would not add much to the game after doing a little bit of digging I need to know some off your sources because mine tell a little different story.

I dont know what caused the war to break out in the first place but i know that the Parguayan starting minister file is wrong because:

1) according to my source the war ended january 21 after a six american countries proposed a settlement to the issue.

2) The current startup ministers did not take office until after a military coup in february.

My suggestion is this.

Add the war at start of the scenario. This will not cause paraguay to be annexed because the infrastructure is not great in that are and a settlement event could hit after 3 weeks and end the war. Then the military coup and the right government replaced with the current start up one.

I know that to some of you it may seem trivial but then it could be argued that the italy-ethiopia war is unecessary as well. We shouldn't make so much difference as to wether it is a minor country or major power affected by the real events that took place in the game period.

If the settlement is reached in january 36 then neither country will have the other one annexed prior to it and It could leave an option_b for the settlement to come to a fall and the war continue. I agree that this could easy lead to the annexation of paraguay, but then again, that could be the reality faced by the paraguaian government at that time. That could be what led to the acceptence of the settlement and the later coup.

I admit im a big flavour fan and such and event chain could make south america a lot more interesting.

If people are at all interested in this I will write up the events but i might need to add some more people to the minister file of paraguay as i dont think the previous government is in there. I only have the leaders name and if any of you could help me fill out the rest it would be much appreciated.

I think that we should add the event. Anything that adds events and flavors to the western hemisphere at the beginning of the game is good. MDow

Hi Generalisimo, Steel and the rest.

I just did a quick check on CORE 0.531 of the Argentinean OOB and its unit names and there is a mistake, the same one Paradox did with 1.05b.

It's my fault because i did 3 unitnames list and its corresponding OOB. The mistake is that both, 1.05b and CORE 0.531 use a unit names list that does not correspond with the OOB.

I did 3 lists, one with regiment sized unit names, another one with brigade sized unit names, and the last one (upon Guinesmonkey's petition) with division sized unit names (less historical but with realistic names).

The thing is that each one has a corresponding OOB. In CORE 0.531 (and HoI 1.05b) you are using the brigade sized unitnames with the divisional sized units in the OOB file. I believe that you should update the unitnames with the divisional sized names to match the OOB file. This way there's correspondence, and further the unitnames used are the last list i proposed.

Thanks and sorry. I know it is no big deal and it is not urgent, but maybe you should keep it in mind for CORE 0.6. :)

Just check page 11 of this thread and look for my posts of the 10-07-03. Thanks!

Note: If you prefer the brigdae size names instead, then you should change the OOB file to the one it is based on that unitnames list.

According to my sources, an armistice was signed on june 12th of 1935 and, in 1936 in Buenos Aires, both countries agreed the final peace settlement.
So, i am not sure if this is right...

Well final settlement was 21 january 1936

if the fighting stopped 1935 ill just add them as political events

the next dates are off my head so here it goes

summer 1937 governments of bolivia and paraguay ratify the settlement

some time 1938

both countries recognize the others right to exist

Ghost_dk

Ill write up the events and post them here and then we can have a poll before adding them. How about that :)

Central American Question

I am polishing my US Intervention in Central American country X events. I have put in an option in the fourth event of the chain to have country X approach Germany for support from an overbearing Germany. Does anyone think that this is an unreasonable option? I figure it would have a less than 1% chance of happening in an AI controlled game, but would be a nice option for a fiercely independent human player. MDow
