In fact, there's less divisions in all scenarios than there is in vainilla HoI. Honestly. I also suggested an ai file in another thread, which i tested with these units. Argentina showed to build a more balanced army wih a more realistic size using the building priorities i have chosen. Anywya i should test it even more.

Btw, regarding the changes i suggested for the map of Argentina i did not included changing the Andes provinces to hills because i thought it would be a very radical change and also i think that the the most important terrain there (militarly speaking) would be the access to the paths that lead to Chile through the mountains as well as the biggest reservoir of mineral water in the world which lies in the middle of the mountains between Argentina and Chile in the southern Andes.

Anyway i raised the infrastructure in the middle and northern Andes to better reflect the fact that those regions could support a decent army or corps. I also added coal in the Lago Posadas (i think) where there is the biggest coal deposit present in Argentina.

I hope it's ok.

Thanks! The comments were put just as a reference to province id (it wasn't meant to be included).

In Paraguay, Mariscal Estigarriba and in Bolivia, Santa Cruz should both be desert provinces. It is high plateau desert and famous in South America for having hosted the Gran Chaco War.

Also, Sao Paulo should have some manpower! Even if it's taken from another Brazilian province.

Inter-American Conference

I found a reference to an Inter-American Cooperation Conference held in Buenas Aires in 1938. Does anyone have any details about that conference? It might make a good event for keeping Argentina and other South American countries out of the Axis. MDow

be aware, the best american ally of Germany, Argentina, :)D) went to all those conferences, BUT, we only ratified (confirmed?) 4 of the 56 conventions and treaties adopted there.... we became the worst "ratifier" of all times in South America... :p :D
The problem is simple, Argentina aristocracy felt more near Europe than USA (well, they felt "europeans" and ignored the USA), our military men (the power in that time) felt identified with Germany and their "nationalism", so, a perfect "cocktail" for ignoring USA and becoming more "fascists" in HoI...
Almost every historical event will bring us into the fascist corner in HoI....
Remember that, ONLY, when the USA put a LOOOOOT of pressure against us, we signed a "paper" declaring war against the axis power... in may of 1945...... just days before they surrendered...

I have a lot of info about it but in spanish. In fact, thre were a lot of "panamerican conferences". They were held each 2 years in different countries. The more importants, if i remember well, were the one in 1940 and the one in 1942.

Regarding what Generalisimo wrote, it's half truth. Many argentinean conservatives were leaned towards Europe rather than towards the US. But that "Europe" included the UK and France... specially the UK. There has ben always some confusion regarding Argentina's alignment.

The society was divided, when not unconcerned, about the axis and allies alignment (look at the turbulence those years in Argentina). Part of the Army was pro-axis, but just because their interest in purchasing german technology and equipment (and make a lot of money from the corruption around the deal... for sure). Another part was more leaned towards the UK, and probably the Navy too (although they bought italian ships in the 30's).

There was a small liberal movement, but that caused a lot of noise, called F.O.R.J.A. who was anti-imperialist (anti-UK and anti-US) but at the same time they didn't like the nazis and the fascists. In fact, they were truely democratic because they were fighting against the fraud in the elections that started in Argentina around the 30s. Anyway they were labeled sometimes as fascists (they weren't). More confusion... They came from the Yrigoyenist side of the radical party but later they disapeared in mid 40's. Some of them joined Peron's movement later on, appealed by his populist propaganda.

Was Peron a fascist (1946)? It was a populist. He harbored german "refugees" but i think that he was looking for german technology (submarine tech, jet fighter tech, missile tech) the same way the US did after the war.

Anyway... if you look at the panamerican conferences and Argentina's behavior, the foreign ministers were always willing to sign common declarations, treaties, etc... the problem was at home, i guess, and failed to ratify what has been signed.

Btw, Saavadra Lamas won the Peace Nobel price sometime during 1938, i think, because of his intervention during to solve the Chaco War between Bolivia and Paraguay. He was probably the best diplomat Argentina ever had.

Would you be willing to write up a summary of the conferences in English that could be used as descriptions for events? I might give up on Argentina as a lost cause, but in the past couple of games that I watched Bolivia joined the Axis as well. Who knows what Brazil would have done (they were loyal members of a neutral US at that point :D). It seems like the Axis does a lot of recruiting in South America once the first part of the war ends IMO. MDow

Ok just to clerify what i did with the finnish aid events from south America.

Basically what i did was this

a promise for aid = +5 democratic

actually going through and helping = +10 democratic

so a max of 15 from these events towards democracy

some nations only made the promise=+5

some also came through = +15

and yet some gave withouth promesing aid first = +10

Chile had an aircraft carrier!
according to the Chile Armada (Navy ;) ):
Constructed by Vickers, Elswick, England. Twin of armored "Admiral Latorre". Initially was called "Santiago" and later "Constitution". It did not arrive at Chile. It was confiscated by England during World War I and transformed during his construction into aircraft carrier H.M.S. "Eagle", that was sunk by the German submarines during World War II.

Original text in spanish:
Construido por Vickers, Elswick, Inglaterra. Gemelo del acorazado "Almirante Latorre". Inicialmente se llamó "Santiago" y después "Constitución". No llegó a Chile. Fue requisado por Inglaterra durante la Primera Guerra Mundial y transformado durante su construcción en el portaaviones H.M.S. "Eagle", que fue hundido por los submarinos alemanes durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
