With all due respect that's completely incorrect. There's a large proportion of board visitors who don't post (aka lurkers). If you don't think that's the case then I suggest you pm one of the moderators and ask.

Hmmm, when I watch signatures and AAR parameters, I always see V. Hard/Furious and threads "why HoI is so easy?" are much more common than "how to win this game".
But seriously, I don't find new techmod challenging at all (but it's designer opinion of course). It's simply more oriented on balanced development, then on wining the war by forcing one particular technology branch. At least I see it this way.

I understand this is CORE: Germany thread. If there are any questions to the new techtree let's move to Land doctrines forum - for now it's still the home of alpha techmod. And I really listen to the people - in fact over 50% of the ideas added to the mod are based on discussions from that thread. :)

Slovakia

In response to some comments in the discussion thread, here's a proposal for Slovakia:

- New AI file to be designed. Build priority motorised infantry, armor, fighters and dive bombers. Passive against Poland?

- Set up German land convoy for all resources via event 2006. It's up to the human player to add transports (bug logged).

- Transfer 20.000 coal, 10.000 steel and 5.000 each of rubber, oil and supplies from Germany to Slovakia (share of spoils in partition of Czechoslovakia).

- Review SLO tech levels (Copper Nicus?) and if necessary add to event 2300 that Germany gives armor techs etc to Slovakia (they should at least have Czech levels) and maybe some doctrines.

If this works well, then the same should be done for Croatia and RSI.

EDIT: Corrected event number. Events have been updated, just need some province numbers to complete this. Feedback appreciated on the validity of the ideas here.

Ok. One suggestion - give them infantry as a priority, such a small country won't be able to handle production of so costly units like mot/armor. Supplies idea looks very good - most of the time their units got 0 org all the time.

Checked the events, SLO should have all CZE tech by default. Still probably needs a doctrine-transfer from GER, IIRC they fought well in Russia and shouldn't have rock-bottom org levels in the game.

I think SLO will be able to build motorised and armor, will test and see. Historically they had the Fast Corps and I'd like to retain that if possible.

Slovakia test results

Correction, the events are misleading and it appears that SLO only has junk tech :( We will definitely need a tech transfer.

slovakia3.jpg

They have no resources to start with, only what they get from Germany. At about 20 IC (some upgrades in progress) the resources will last about 3 years (assuming they don't trade it away) which IMHO is reasonable.

slovakia2.jpg

It's random what units they keep, note that a few units defect to Germany.

slovakia1.jpg

German AI resources before and after end of Czechoslovakia:

germany1.jpg

germany2.jpg

The shortage is more likely induced by bad trades than anything else :( Not much to do about that, although a world market overhaul is on the to-do list there is some AI issues about WM trading and no event commands or AI parameters to control it.

I've added some setup resources to Croatia as well but no land convoy.

With v0.4 I find AI Germany has no issues with Poland (8-14 week campaign) but sometimes struggles with France/Belgium. I'm toying with the idea of making Germany a bit more reckless - opinions?

Hmmm, I find this a bit longer campaign important for timing - thanks to end of France between april-august 1940 and Balkan war, USSR is attacked in 1941. Let's live it as it is now.

Alright, or maybe just do this as a requirement for the blitzkrieg doctrine. If you do the Guderian Achtung Panzer doctrine is slows down the german technology and makes the game more realistic.
So my advice is to make a new tech called Guderian Doctrine and from that on you can development the Blitzkrieg. In Guderians Book he dont talk directly about the blitzkrieg but about its ground rules.

I think you have an event that gives the war expericane doctrines from the spanish war. Do this one like that one ;D

In my books i stands that if you stood still at on point and watch the whole parade march by it took 6 hours so this isnt just a small military parade ;)

And what i know hitlers birthday was celibrated every 20 april, but this parade was the biggest.. so you can add all his birthdays.

No. Lets not add more technology.

If there is already an event on their return, why would you do another for a parade?

You can't add experience.

Did you try "Scandinavia"...

Maybe some explaination because we are so relaculant in adding new techs...

1) It's already present - Germany got Blitz from the start. It's brand new, and considering the fact, that it adds 1 Mov point to standard 8 (yes, only 8 points) of Mov for mech.mot/medium tank divs, it's huge advantage.

2) Germany in HoI 1.04 are very strong from the start. They are able to win with every AI opponent in Europe, and in test games I've seen panzers conquering India and China in 1945. They definetly don't need more help.

3) Changes you suggest are already present in many existing techs. We are trying to avoid doubling effects and creating "empty techs".

But we could give germany Blitzkrieg through a "guderian writes book" type event in 1937, right?

We can, and I like the idea. It will weaken a bit German position in 1936 (Re-occupation of Rheinland), which is rather good. What needs to be prepared:

1) all inc files (disabling Blitz from the start) - we want to make it German only, right?

2) event for Gremany giving them this doctrine.

I would say - 0.5.

Also death of Riechenau is good event idea and no problems with balance - who uses him in HoI anyway? ;)

i say it again.. the book of guderian wasnt a totaly developt blitzkrieg warfare plan. But the "Guderian Achtung Panzer doctrine" may work so u after u got it can reserch the blitzkrieg doctrine.. this will make the german reserch slower.. thats good!

of course only german should have this doctrine..

BUT i think it should take much much much longer time for other countries to reserch the blitzkrieg doctrine couse the germans were leading in this area.. so make it 360 days for that doctrine..for other countries..

I think the doctrine name should Be

Achtung! Panzer! like his book ;)
