Korea

One of my major frustrations about post-war Korea is resources. It's easy enough to just give them big stockpiles but if there is anybody out there with a good idea about the economics of the region then I'd appreciate some comment on the resource and manpower levels that Paradox gave Korea.

you could try to find "vladimir"... he is from Taiwan (IIRC), so he will probably know...
He has some mods for that zone, maybe he modded the resources... (you know about his mod because we have discussed it in the past ;) ).
The bad thing is that almost all his webpage is in russian/chinese... :(

Just to be annoying with a few additional ideas:
1. NatChi signed the Anti-Comitern Pact (I'll look up in what year).
2. Stillwell in China. His notorious row with Chiang, and more specifically, with Madame Chiang and her family. Vinegar Joe was CoS of the NatChi Army for a few years (42/43).
3. Flying the Hump. The Air supply route over the Himalayas. Probably should include a Tibet event.
4. AVG in China. Chennault is, or was, a NatChi Air leader, but a specific unit would be nice. Should be P-40 air unit.
5. US economic assistance to China. One time event in 36/37, giving China a few basic industrial techs.
6. US aid to China, post-Nanking. A few basic infantry techs, like Service Rifle, and an art'y tech or two.

But they lost directly:

and they win directly:

4 oil

do you know how much resources they get when China becomes a puppet??
why they lost all northern-east chinese provinces?

100% of all resources except the last 100 in the stockpile, every day.

The Kiri Project brings all of China (including the northern parts that were previously occupied by Japan but excluding a few enclaves on the coast) under Chinese rule, but as they are puppets the Japanese achieve their goal in China - access to the resources of the land. Also remember that the provinces that Japan gives up are not core provinces for them (so 33% IC), but they do gain cores on the provinces that they gain in the peace (100% IC).

I've not added them yet. There's almost no new events at all in v0.5. as the focus was on v1.05 integration. I can add them with the first patch to v0.5. Do you feel the trigger conditions are good enough? It seems to me they are quite focused on historical progression and a Japanese player could happily import US oil while invading the Dutch East Indies, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada... anything but the US.

mmm... that's bad... it should at least check for Dutch East Indies... ;)

Sino-Japanese War

In my everlasting quest to find a good balance in the Sino-Japanese War and get the Japanese AI to fight a war in the Pacific instead of focusing on annexing NatChi, I've done the following changes:

- Marco Polo Bridge no longer starts a war with ComChi
- Going right in Japanese elections no longer make them Fascist
- ComChi start with one additional tech and now have a tech path
- Revised War Experience event for ComChi to give land doctrines instead of artillery tech
- Fort upgrades are now in progress in ComChi territory at game start (avoids panic build during war with NatChi)
- NatChi starting tech will be revised
- German and Soviet assistance to NatChi will be revised
- Japanese decision to focus on Southern Resource Area will happen earlier
- All Japanese AI files now have tech paths
- Japanese AI will use less troops in North China and more troops for amphib landings
- There will be an event for Japanese Imperial Navy commandeering 490.000 tonnes of shipping and the expansion of the Naval Air Arm in September 1940
- US-Japan events will now trigger the Tojo cabinet and bring Japan to fascism in 1941, thus leading to war with US and Allies

I've not yet decided on when ComChi will enter the war against Japan. My current thinking is that the fall of Nanjing could trigger commencement of ComChi uprisings and operations against Japan. Any other thoughts on this?

what is the change of not having ComChi at war with Japan? what would that change? after all, ComChi have only 2 provinces... ;)

There is no distinction between CHC and CHI for the Front AI. Therefore when Japan reaches CHC border, they build up 20-30 division force and assaults Yanan. After CHC annexation, CHI is annexed within a year. If Japan fails to defeat CHC, then they usually never manage to advance farther and never send forces for the Pacific campaign.

Removing CHC from the war means the Japanese AI ignores CHC, advances very rapidly against the Chinese, triggers the "Japan's Choice" event and then usually goes for the Pacific instead :)

This change also means that the CHC uprisings don't happen while the Japanese army is in north China, but rather when they are in Nanjing area - a good thing ;) The CHC-JAP war now starts with an uprising, quite appropriate IMHO :D
