If nobody else is interested I can take charge of the Commonwealth C.O.R.E. aspect.

Here are a few ideas.

#1. Historic representation of forces (starting and capable of building)

#2. Historic ability of industry/moboilization.

#3. Historic and probable events.

Here is an idea for an event with the Union of South Africa.

Historically South Africa refused to allow Africans to take an active part in the military. This left them under-manned, and only capable of fielding (at most) 3 Divisions in the field. Depending on elections (right or left wing) there could be a possibility for South Africa to access the large manpower pool of the African population. Should a Left wing government be voted in, an event could fire to allow the enlistment of Africans into the South African army. This would greatly increase manpower, but also affect dissidence against the war (as it could be seen as a loss of power by the whites).

Total Pool of Whites in South Africa 320 000. If this event is initiated, adding about 1 000 000 to the manpower would be good.

This could either increase manpower per turn, or give the South Africans an influx of manpower for a few months.

I have yet to create an event string, so it might be a while before I figure this out.

Another Event

The sacking/resignation of Lieutenant General McNaughton. Due to politics, McNaughton was removed from command in 1943. He was a very capable commander (possibly Canada's most capable general of that rank).

It was because of the pressure put on Canada to allow their forces to be split up under British command that McNaughton resigned.

So, in order for the UK to gain Canadian Expeditionary Forces, McNaughton must be removed from the game. An event should fire whenever Canada offers an Expeditionary force to remove McNaughton or cause the Expeditionary force to revert back to Canadian Command.

Hi McNaughton,

Sounds good, at the moment nobody "Claimed" the Commonwhealth... Please read the CORE Events Writing Organization thread and drop me a note there to give me your thoughts and ideas about Organizing the Commonwhealth...

Welcome aboard

Extro :)

Just an idea, Canada didn't allow overseas conscription until . . . 1944 I think. Perhaps Canadian manpower should be limited to volunteers until an event fires (either tied to the election of a right wing government, loss of the UK or Russia, or timed for 1944) that adds the rest of the population to the manpower pool.

This doesn't really address the fact that plenty of people were conscripted for home defense, but the game engine can't differentiate between units that can move from home and those that can't.

Of course if this happens before 1944 Dissent goes through the roof. (What were the historical effects of the decision to send conscripts over seas?) If I recall, one of the major concerns was the reaction of Quebecois to being sent to fight a war for England. Any Canadians know exactly what the situation was and how extreme a Quebecois response would have been?

For the manpower events to be possible, modification to starting manpower pools have to be modified to the following in the 1936 scenario.

Canada
From: 330 manpower
To: 20 manpower

Australia
From: 390 manpower
To: 20 manpower

New Zealand
From: 58 manpower
To: 20 manpower

South Africa
From: 290 manpower
To: 20 manpower

PS. Centrist leaders are left wing, and Liberal-Conservative right wing, right?

Some thoughts on Australia here

Yeah, I created a modified 1936 scenario that eliminated all of the Australian Land Forces. I do not agree with this individual's conversion of the 1st-4th Australian Divisions to Militia Divisions. They were fully equipped regular line divisions by 1941, but were just never sent overseas. Militia divisions are hasty formations with much less heavy equipment then regular divisions.

well, the events looks, good, have you finished all of them?

They are somewhat finished, but I still want to test them to see how they work, as well as for balancing. Possibly the dissident hits are too high/low, or I could improve the text.

Here's an idea that I am forming into an event.

In 1938 President Roosevelt declared that should Canada be invaded by any nation that the United States will come to their aid.

Since many people have played Germany, defeated France and England, then moved on to finish Canada, this will be a major stumbling block in this strategy, as once Canada is invaded, the US declares war on them.

I can have the 1st event fire in 1938, which opens up the possibity of a 2nd event (that ocurrs when either Halifax or Vancouver Island are invaded) which has the US automatically join the Allies.

that will stop the german agression for sure... i agree with that :D

well, these numbers are the forces that fought for the Commonwealth.

Indian divisions that arrived in Africa/Iraq from 1939 – 1941 are:
4 Inf Div formed before 1939 arrived North Africa December 40
5 Inf Div formed before 1939 arrived East Africa January 41
10 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived Iraq May 41

These are Commonwealth divisions that arrived in Africa (excludes British and Indian forces) from 1939 – 1941:
Australia
6 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived North Africa January 41
7 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived Syria June 41
9 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived North Africa March 41

Canada: None

African Colonies
11 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived East Africa Jan 41
12 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived East Africa Jan 41

South Africa
1 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived East Africa Jan 41
2 Inf Div formed 1940 arrived North Africa Aug 41

New Zealand
2 Inf Div formed 1939 arrived North Africa Nov 41 (Greece April 41)

Now th AI NEVER does that... :(
so, i will work on a new AI for the CW to try to simulate that, i will let you what happened... :D

I think that there should be a commonwealth AI, and a Canadian AI, possibly dividing the Commonwealth AI into South Africa AI and an ANZAC AI.

Since Canada primarily fought in England/France (with two Divisions in Italy, later sent to Holland), while the rest of the Commonwealth fought in North Africa/Italy/Home, having two or more AI's would probably work better. So, Canadians will focus on defending the UK and attacking France, while other Commonwealth will focus on protecting North Africa/Italy.

Also, I am tweaking production and research for the Commonwealth.

Historically, Commonwealth forces were heavily motorized, and instead of a high priority toward Infantry production, they should have a high priority toward Motorized Infantry production. Also, the RAAF, RNZAF, RSAAF and the RIAF were primarily tactical air forces (tac bombers, and figters) while the RCAF was primarily a strategic air force (strat bombers and fighters).

Generalisimo, I am looking forward to seeing your revised AI file for the Commonwealth!

thanks for the info. :D
yes, i was thinking aout creating a uk_ai, canada_ai, cw_ai, then a sealion_ai to defend against the invasion.
also, i think that, when this is finished, i must create some ai for the posible invasions of south africa, new zealand and australia, so the CW reacts in a way to defend and reconquer those lands. But this has a low priority than the cw_ai.

:D
