What 'newest CORE' did you install? If it's 0.91 then it needs to be installed over CORE 0.9. Installing 0.91 without 0.9 would cause your symptoms since it doesn't contain the scenario .eug file.

Yeah, never mind me, I´m just an idiot :) I got the versions mixed up and I thought the 0.91 was a complete installer, I downloaded everything now and it works.

It´s bloody hard compared to Vanilla HoI, playing as germany, resources run out after 6 months. plus one of the techs takes 8000 days to complete....is that some kind of typo...?

8000 day tech

Depends on the tech. Some of the AI only tech's show as 8000 day durations to discourage players from using them and a few of the late nuclear techs have a similar duration since they really reflect very post-war technologies.

'36 Germany can be a problem. Micromanaging your trades on the world market can work. There will be occasional bubbles of rubber that you can do 1:1 trades for. Beefing up flak and fortifications helps suppress your economic demand for resources. The oil trades from Romania and iron trades from Sweden should take care of those two resources.

The tech I was referring to was the Total War economy (Ger only) that says it has over 8000 days developing time.

Is this serious, is it actually supposed to be 8000 days?

Yeah I´ve been able to somewhat handle the resource deficit by upgrading flak and forts.

August 41 Peace w/ Allies?

Ok here is the 411, I'm running HoI Core .91. Playing as Germany. Tokk over Europe pretty easy of course. Defending against many one unit invasion and one major one (around 20-30 units). After I got that front secured I started building up for my invasion of the Soviet Union, this is around early 40'. I decided to open a second front with the Soviets and invade/annex Turkey, not only the second front but to do what Hilter planned all along, take the oil rich provinces in the south. Taking Turkey of course gave me instant access to these. I'm still building up my military (most cosisting of the workhorse of the German Army the Mark IV 75mm w/ arty and engineer attatchments) and sorted of waited them out. Anyways around June of 41' Vichy France lost its Puppet government in Syria. No biggy I turned south and took full control, and took lebenon with it. I then liberated Syria as a Puppet and went back to the Soviet border. Sometime in August, I have no exact date, Syria freed Lebanon, and all of a sudden I was at peace the the allies (UK, CAN, FRA ect) The only way I found this out was I was going to clear the southern part of the Middle East and Take Jerusalem and the others, and couldn't, I clicked and I got the bonk noise with the "X" symbol on the province, I was like wtf, I did it again and same thing. Then went to the Diplomatic view and click on it and saw that I was not at war with the allies anymore. Has anyone ran into this, is this a bug, I wasn't even informed I was going to sign a peace treaty with the corrupted west

Germany receives the tech via event, the 8000 days is intentional to block it from 'normal' tech development.

This is a bug in Event SYR 902081 'Lebanon returned to Vichy Control after Syria Conquest'. If France, Vichy, Syria, and Lebanon all exist in 1940-2, and Syria has control over Province 1273, then that event will fire. It does an alliance-wide peace with Lebanon, and since Lebanon likes to stay in the Allies if it can get away with it, and Syria almost always joins the Axis (or is puppeted by a human Axis member, like GER, ITA, or IRQ) the event will cause peace between the Allies and Axis. It's offset is 1, and AI SYR will often take weeks to annex, so this event happens often.

Suggested fixes: use value = 0 in the peace command, delete the independence command from action_a (it's pointless, LEB must already exist and have its capital controlled by SYR for the event to trigger) and add
Code:
		puppet = { country = SYR country = VIC }
		puppet = { country = LEB country = FRA }
to the triggers. This prevents it triggering in very ahistorical situations, when the event doesn't make sense anyway. As is, the event will happily fire if Syria is in the Allies or neutral, or if ENG has been Bitter Peaced and is a puppet of GER; Lebanon will leave its alliance and then declare war on ENG even if that makes no sense in the current situation. (A better war command might make it declare war on FRA, so if there's a Syrian Revolt going on against a neutral France, half the planet won't start going after Lebanon.)

Hello,

I just had a crash on an Italian event. This one is the Bribe Selassie. If I bribe him and then Etiopia gets freed, then it crashes.

Bye

Was Ethiopia annexed or puppeted?

I suppose it depends on what you mean with 'very often' :) Personally I find it quite stable and have no problems running from 1936 to 1947 without crashes.

However there's a few known crash-bugs that we're working on, one of which tends to occur quite often in the 1939 scenario and the rest of which are very specific to player action (ie Germany puppets England). If you have a savegame which crashes shortly after reload then please zip/rar it and send it to steel@melachea.demon.co.uk

Very often means once each month or every second month. I play 1936 scenario. Ill try to get a savegame, but it seems not to be connected to any special events.

Ctd

I've been playing V0.91, USSR, 1939 and have seen CTDs circa May, 1940 in two successive games. Both times I was running the game very fast. I've seen CTD in the past if Vichy was fired on a very high game speed. Fortunately, I have a late-April save on the 2nd game and will repeat it tonight on a slower speed to see if I can get through.

Update: Yep, speed kills. I was moving forward saving every couple of weeks at fast and CTD at the end of June - no Vichy yet. I started up the last save which was just a few days before the CTD, dropped speed to normal, and Vichy fired successfully a few days later and the game is running fine now (up to September, 1940).

db mismatch with 'Lebanon&Syria return to French control'

I searched the bugs thread and only found one slightly related post, which said just to click ignore with the db mismatch. The situation was different though.

I'm playing UK, it's late 1940. Iraq is Axis and has annexed both Syria and Lebanon. Before my troops in Jerusalem and Amman (just south of Syria and Lebanon) can move in and retake the two countries, I get the event which gives control over Syria & Lebanon back to the Free French. But I haven't conquered them yet?

A month later, I actually -have- retaken both countries. When the event fires a second time, my game freezes. I notice a windows-style pop-up telling me there has been a db mismatch and asking me if I want to ignore, abort or retry. I just stopped the HoI.exe process.

How do I proceed? Do I proceed with the autosave, which was taken -after- the event fired the first time, and then just click 'ignore'? Or do I have to revert to a much older 'real' savegame and lose all my earlier conquests?

AFAIK, you just have to click 'ignore', so you're right about that (you might have to do that for several times though), and after that you should be able to play on, at least I could when I had things like that... most of the time ;)

btw: never knew jan breydel was from antwerpen :p

edit: I believe the image for improved medium tank (either 75+mm medium or long) is wrong, it shows an armored car.

edit2: I've been playing as Germany lately, and everything went smoothly except for some 'unforseen' wars...
  1. I invaded Norway and Sweden, (not through that event, Weserubung) and puppeted them both in early 1940. At the time, Finland was still at war with the SU, and as soon as I puppeted Sweden they suddenly decided to intervene in the winter war, to aid their Finnish brothers. Small complication: they are my puppets, so suddenly I'm at war with SU too
Shouldn't they at least consult ME as their master to intervene?
So I loaded, and this time I didn't puppet. They joined the allies when I invaded them, so now the Allies are at war with the SU (that's more like it :D ), unfortunately they agreed to a peace a little later :(
  2. I invaded Yugoslav when the event came up, but since it's been a while when I had to invade through allies, I forgot about the 'provinces become ownership of your ally' thingy, leaving me without a connection to the mediterranean as Hungary annexed Yugoslav. I did manage to claim Greece as my own, but since I couldn't get a transporter there and forgot about paratroopers, there was no way I could reach Crete, and had to wait until UK took that over. I then puppeted Greece, but it wasn't long before Italy attacked Greece, even though it was my puppet  (well, at least I now have a connection to the mediterranean :D )
Well, these just seem a little weird, you'd think Italy would reconsider attacking a German puppet Greece... especially since I only attacked Greece because of the event where you can choose yes/no, when Italy should already be at war with Greece I suppose.
Oh and Romania chose to go to war against the SU over Bessarabia, but it's now late '40 and neither side has made any progress, it almost looks like they're not doing anything...

Supply problems to assumed control forces + unholy alliance

I was playing Japan, had taken command of the Swedish army, invaded England from the top, got to Newcastle, it still showed that they were in supply, but the organisation wasn't going up and I was getting oil problems (which I boilded down to sweden running out), but the organisation not going up was baffling. Germany had the same problem, they came in through the south, and just to have a look I assumed command of them too, and they weren't getting supplied. Can't be supply ships getting destroyed because there was virtually no enemy fleet, and if that was the case then we would have been losing troops to no supply, yet that wasn't happening. Had similar problems with the US in Italy, I was playing spain, assumed control and the same thing happened. Also, with the divying up of Germany on the Western Front, I found that there was no supply in the newly created US sectors, but the British sectors were in supply. I had to retreat the US forces, let the remaining German units take those areas, then I retook them and there was the supply.

Now the unholy alliance, playing Russia and was able to get the unholy alliance going with Germany, they finished off France, but then that was it, 1 year later and they hadn't done a thing, no invasion of Yugoslavia, nothing. Basically it appeared that the German AI was just going to ride out the war in Europe and not do anything else. I assumed with the unholy alliance they would have gone all out, but instead, they stagnated. They shifted practically all their planes in on the old Poland side, had half a dozen troops along the Yugolsavia side, plus a few planes, the rest of the troops were defending the beaches. Found the whole exercise pretty boring and gave up when it hit 1944.

The other problem I found was Persia, I declared war, they joined the allies, then when I took Tehran, they did the 'join the allied cause', gave me military access and that was it, I couldn't declare war on them even though I was at war against their allies.

My only other beef is with the AI, when it annexes an area, say the US annexing southern Italy, why doesn't the AI create new units in that area??? Island hopping with planes from the states is a tad tedious.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't remember if there was a fix for the blinking fighter sprite issue (I only use counters). There are two things that I know of that would cause no experience gain:
1. You are not assigning a historical leader. The default (skill 0) leaders do not gain experience.
2. You are playing multiplayer as a client. MP clients don't see experience growth until the next time the saved game is reloaded.

If what is happening is that you are reloading a saved game and losing a few experience points then that is an effect of how experience is rounded when it is saved.

It happens with historical leaders in the 1936 solo campaign.
My fighters leaders loose always all their xp and then never progress, it only happen with them , there is no bug with the leaders of other units.
