What happened there is that, for sprites, the file in the mod dir has to have a mirror in the basic directory structure. Like ministers and leaders, if the file isn't in the basic structure the game engine won't find the one in the mod dir structure. As there wasn't a specific Ethiopian militia sprite in the basic directory structure, HOI couldn't find the CORE one. Well spotted, BTW. :)

When you start a game as Turkey you have a land commander in charge of one of the fleets. It's no problem just replacing him with a naval commander, but it seems a little odd having a general on a ship.

Selecting Ignore should allow the game to continue, this is a HoI bug that we can't fix :(

Holland throws in the towell event

Playing 0.85 as Germany I get New Order West Event August 1940. As the event unfolds the option of annexing or puppeting the Netherlands pops up. Now they had stayed neutral due the previous conflict but either option results in Japan getting modern day Indonesia (note: Japan is not at war with the USA).

To my way of thinking the event should at the very least check to see if the Netherlands is at war with Germany before executing. If this is the case then event should also check to see if the NEI is occupied by Japan before handing the whole NEI over to Japan.

I really can not see why Japan should get the NEI in the NOW colonial carve up if they are not at war with the western allies (ie France and the UK). I know there are the historic precedents of the Tripartite Pact and the Japanese occupation of French Indo-China, however the later occured in the middle of the war with the British Empire and as such is a circumstance far removed from a post victory in the west grand global colonial carve up.

Thankyou.

Save game bug

Sorry, if the topic has been here before, but I just don`t have enough stamina to check all the 157 pages of topics !
This has appeared several times.
When I load a game, the political situation of my country is messed up. Last time I played as Mexico, waging war with Guatemala City and USA. It ended with my forces invading Guatemala City and El Salvador and annexing both of them, then I made peace with the USA and joined the Allies. The year was 1943, I saved the game and quit.
Next time, when I loaded the game (and the date and year were correct), I was still in war with the Guatemala City and the US.
What was that about !?

You're right event 5137 needs to have a trigger wich checks if HOL is at war with GER or allied with GER. :)

I submitted this for fixing. Thanks! :)

EDIT: added trigger "atwar = no" to the NOT section of event 5137.

I don’t know if this is a bug, but I don't know of any better sub forum to put the question.

Today I decided to update my old CORE set up. Got the 0.84 from the site but when I start the set up it says "C.O.R.E. v0.84 Platinum Edition
The v0.84 release should be installed on HoI 1.07.". Pretty straightforward.

What gives? It did not say that on the download area on the page (I don't have HOI 1.07/HOI Platinum). It said 1.06c.

Am not sure how to read this. Is HOI Platinum a requirement or not for the C.O.R.E. v0.84 Platinum Edition?
Sorry if I have missed something elsewhere. I was eager and looked at the download page and it requirement information. As I don't want to mess up the new installation I ask here. Better safe than sorry and all that.

Install order:

HoI
Hoi Patch 1.06c
CORE V0.84
CORE V0.85

And you got it all.

Just disregard the 1.07 and Platinum mentioning. :)
Thanks for you quick reply! I apriciate that.
Yes, I guessed that was it, but the text in the installer is really missleading. Would be a good thing to change that. People having old Core, going for the 0.85, will need the 0.84 first, but if they got to confused they may stop and miss the clarifying text in the 0.85 installer.
Historicaly HOI have had more than its share of patch/minor update confusion. Many old posts in the vanilla forums may show traces of this.

HoI Platinum is HoI 1.06c + C.O.R.E. 0.84PE (more or less), not a requirement for it. They put 1.07 as a requirement before they knew what Johan was going to call the new patch. The C.O.R.E. website actually states the requirement as 1.06c.

Yeah, that was what I meant when I wrote "It said 1.06c."

No big deal. I can live with this, but for any newbie this may cause trouble. You tend to read the latest information (for your eyes) most, and what you see when you install often is, in practical terms for many, the latest information.
I understand this is unpractical to change, but perhaps some notice could be pro-active? No all people getting confused will post here, I am sure you know that.

New Bug (ID already used)

I get an application crash: "Id Already used (type = 6, id = 19003)" Abort, retry, fail, after liberating Lithuania and Estonia as Germany in '42. I don't recall all of the choices I made - but I do recall some event where I chose that I wanted to go with the someone or other + Ribbentrov plan that was to make such countries a buffer between Germany and Russia. And I get that error immediately following an event where I specifically choose either to liberate those countries (which I do choose), or to simply keep them as my conquered provinces.

I've searched on 19003, and what I come up with a type=9, id = 19003 minister, whereas the save game file lists type=6, id=19003 as a leader.

Sorry if this is not as helpful as it might be. Feel free to point in the right direction if there is a better place to take this bug report, or what info more is needed, etc.
