The event you talk about is designed the way it is because of limitations of the game engine and cannot be made to check for forts.


I had the minister who doubled my manpower, and I got the event which should have installed him there again...well since I am stupid I tried to install him again...puff! I had "none" as armament minister(or whatever he was)


Known bug.


some other event's as well...can't remember which.

The Vanilla HoI(1.05c) didn't crash one single time when I was playing it...once I installed C.O.R.E the game started crashing...

Sorry, I was kinda pissed because I hadn't saved the game in 10 months and had just done an awful lot of preparations for war...and then the game crashed(not because of the events...)

I do the debug for C.O.R.E. and as part of that I've gone over more than 100 save games and replicated the issues. There are problems with HoI such as introducing control characters in save games, CTD when annexing a same-alliance member or CTD when an AI nation at war has air squadrons on carriers. While I'm glad your vanilla experience was good it does not change the fact that HoI still has a number of CTD issues which C.O.R.E. cannot resolve.

Note: I'm not trying to pass blame to Paradox here, I'm merely pointing out that CTDs may or may not be C.O.R.E. issues.

One more bug:

Was playing as SU, and the game crashed to some Mexican event(something about reform...). Tried reloading 3 times, crashed. Tried saving as diffrent then reloading, crashed.

The elections should have happened sometime in 1940. some possible reasons as to why the didn't:

1. It is possible they did, and you hit the response before seeing it. I have had this happen with other multiple choice evvents before, while clearing off another notice on teh screen.

2. There is a certain random factor built in to the elections. They do not occur on the same date each time, but usually with in the designated year. I would hazard a guess that there is a random chance (small, very small), that the elections will not trigger at all, give that random factor.

Check the history file, both in game, and the history.txt file in the HoI directory. If you can't see any election in there, my guess would be that #2 happened. I agree it's strange, but is a rare quirk of the engine.

New Order East events for liberating soviet republics dont work as germany controls most new countries, not su. Was able to fire the events as germany, but suffer the dissent meant for su. Finland and Sweden not restored. To liberate sweden, may need to check extra triggers to see who annexed it (su via winter war, germany via fall wesserubung). Allow for recreating finland/sweden along the way like in R-S plan.
Event to partition Vitebsk & Smolesk came up same day as Russia created, before territories had been given to russia. Actually, territories were never given to russia and remained german, along with most of western russia.
Partisan attacks in the Ukraine keep coming up, even after formation of Ukraine and Victory in the East.
Transnestria should not be given to Romania before Bessarabia.

When France Puppets Lebanon & Syria, War Entry for France & UK goes up 6 (3 each puppetting). This doesn't seem right to me as I prefer to see the allies declare war over something germany did.

I have a 700 mhz 128mb ram laptop, and the game crashes now and then because of the events. However usually it only crashes because of playing in "Extremely fast" speed, it has crashed once on the "very fast" speed too.

I suggest that the amount of events is reduced....I mean there must be some unnecessary events?

So how did you reach that conclusion? I'd like to understand how you know the events are the root cause of the crashes.

Play-> event->crash->reload try again->crash again->reload&reduce speed maybe close other programs->game works just fine

It definetly is caused by event's&not enough memory.

Ctd Hoi 1.105c & C.o.r.e. 0.61

I have a save game that crashes to the desktop fairly quickly after loading. Sometimes it's right away, sometimes it takes up to a week. My guess is that there's a random event that is triggering and that causes the crash. The game is being played on a Windows ME system, and it's late in 1940. Would you like me to zip up a copy of the save game and send it to you?

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could trouble shoot and/or resolve this issue?

It definetly is caused by event's&not enough memory.
did you take note of the ammount of RAM consumed by the events that caused the CTD?... i supose you did... can you share that with us?

Where can I see that(the amount of RAM event uses)?

I think the main reason is, that while the event loads the game keeps rolling. I noticed this once as my computer started loading and then the event popped up and the time went forwards like from 0:00 to 12:00 or something.

Anyways, as said when I make the game run slower the game wont crash. And only times the game crashes is when I run with "Extremely-very fast" and some event happens.

The game wants to use a lot of RAM, and a larger swap file (if using Windows), the faster the game runs. In the past (before putting a ridiculous ammount of RAM on my system), I too would get CTDs at the higher game speeds. If the game doesn't crash at the slower speeds, then it isn't anything to do with the events, or with CORE, but instead is just the game engine asking for resources that aren't available. The end result is, you'll have to play on the slower speed settings, or get a bigger better lap top.
