1. The Amelia Earhart event is correct, and works correctly. What you see is her first attempt, where she crashed, but lived. The Dakar etc events are her second attempt, where she disappeared over teh Pacific.

2. Not sure about this. I'd have to check Iraq's minister.csv to be sure. Though I think that OHGamer made some changes, so maybe if he's around, he can answer that.

In the new C.O.R.E. version 0.64, Additional Artillery techs add supply consumption to several units, but Marines don't seem to be among them. Rather unbalancing, I think, or is this WAD? If so, why not have Marines guarding your shores rather than regular infantry?

I Cheated because I wanted to see what fully teched-out units looked like, and noticed that the typical vanilla INF consume something like 4.5 supples and Marines still requite only 1.0.

CORE 0.64MP Bugs

Greetings!

1) In the Naval_Tech.txt file, the requirements for Helicopter Carrier are:
{ 6946 6968 10976 10030 6944 11403 6041 }

Note that there is no tech 6944. Perhaps this should have been something else? My temporary workaround is just to delete 6944.

2) The Models.csv file has 1684 as Waffen SS and 1685 as '44 Volksgrenadier.

This is erroneous and should be changed to 1684 = '44 Volksgrenadier and 1685 = Waffen SS.

3) I'm confused about Partisan Attacks, the Land Doctrine Tech. The research time is 9000 days. Is the goal for me to start "researching" this tech the moment I invade Russia to simulate a mild partisan "drain" on my economy of 1 IC per day?

CORE CTDs...

Normal HOI CTDs once in a while in MP but hardly never in SP. CORE will regularly CTD in SP as well. Is this a known bug or a new one? I guess a clean install might solve it but its annoying as hell to have to replay the same weeks over and over again.

Do events check for the countries involved being actually 'alive'? I was playtesting a game with the unlimited time patch from 1920 just to see how things run. Early on Germany was overrun and annexed by UK. But in 1936 onwards we still have events firing like 'Rumania trades with Germany', 'Italy trades with Germany', but Germany no longer exists.

There should be some SERIOUS overhauls to 'separate peace' events. The game should handle peace negotiations on a country by country basis or else ask if they all want a general peace. My problem is when Japan is Axis and Germany invades (Barbarossa - I'm playing USSR) Japan also goes to war with me. Well, yeah I kick their butts but the Japs need a way out from that. They really don't want to fight with me, the Chinese, the Allies and the USA at the same time.

1. On Amelia: There should be an event after the first crash, that indicates Amelia taking off on her second attempt to circumnavigate the world. the other thing is, most of what y0u ask for are in the desc of the event. Maybe we should just eliminate the first attempt events to prevent confusion.

2. events only check for their triggers. In the case you provided, you are outside the scope of CORE, so you effectively broke the mod by starting in 1920. :D Keep in mind that everything is geared with a 36 start in mind, so starting earlier will give you all sorts of odd event results. But to answer your question, events only check what's in their triggers. So, if no exists = GER is in there for say "Romania ships Oil," The romanian event will fire anyway, but the Germany event won't.

3. Preventing a Russo-Japanese war is a problem. So far, we have yet to come up with a good way to work around it. I have a few ideas, but I want to test them first, before getting any hopes up.

Dunno. Usual question time:

1. What version of CORE and HoI?
2. Is there a particualr event causing the crash, as indicated by the history.txt?
3. What time frame are the CTDs happening? IE, when do they begin?
4. Any other mods installed?

But what if?

By some weird miracle the Allies or Comintern over-run Germany before the events are set to trigger? Or another country that relies on two countries to work, like USA and Japan economics - what if the Comintern walks all over Japan before this happens?

About the events like Amelia Earhart or Swiss Naval Tech I guess it's just confusing since we only see the 'Headlines' and don't get the 'news'. Keep them in, they're great flavor (though maybe you should include the lowdown on events like than in a readme file just so people will stop thinking they're bugs) :)

BTW shouldn't some 'headlines' be more 'cryptic' to avoid their giving away more info than the others (enemies) need to know?

Winter war again

Sorry to bother you guys again, i dont know if what i am going to report is actially a flaw.

The following happens: Winter war (FIN-SU) breaks out. Normally i got to war with my finnish brotherppl (I am playing Sweden as usual), however, the last two times i decided to remain neutral. Then the Swe=neutral events happen during the winter war, such as the private collections and finnish warchildren. However, also some soviet military actions against Sweden take place, such as bombing of my beaches, the sinking of a merchant vessel and then, finally, the bombing of a village. In the desription it says i should declare war if i dont want to loose credibility or still do nothing as the russians are such a grave threat..... however: i have no choosing option! i can only click on "declare war" which still gives me a 40%dissent...... which is a bit harsh if you HAVE to declare war if you ask me.... so i think there should be a possibility to choose to remain neautral and/or a lower dissent penalty.

Any thoughts on this one?

Inf support tank bug

I don't know if it have been reported, but after i researched (as usa) the M4A1 105mm support inf tank bataillon, i did found the unit described in the tech.

the tech, is speacking of an infantery division with bonus and in fact, i found the new unit is only available as an armored division, seems to bad to me. I found the idea of reinforced infantery division refreshing.

It seems also that for germany this is the same (Stug III B or Stug III G bat).

I don't know if it is a lot of work, but if a tank bataillon is available, why not create all the corresponding unit.

Ex : Inf Div + Support inf tk bat / Mot Div + Support inf tk bat etc. etc. / Armor Div + Support inf tk bat / Cav div + Support inf tk bat

And going along the same path we could have two level of subunits
bat. and brigade.

Not very funny situation happend in all my games:

playing Germany, after conquering egyptian and english provinces next to Suez Channel (I think that gives me control over this naval route) - game stops!
Probably it`s a problem with english event about losing control over channel, because it was last message from game. :wacko:

It happens all the time while I`m invading Egypt.

Please do something - I really like Afrika Korps! :cool:

It's a Super AI problem so you really need to bring it up with the people behind that mod. For what it's worth any event where a country annexes a member of it's own alliance will hang the game, it's a limitation that modders have to consider when designing event chains. As a quickfix just delete or comment out the event.

Steel is correct this is a Super AI issue that was fixed for the bundle. The reason this happens Egypt was already allied with the allies and England is trying to annex them. I am at work so I do not remember the actual event but it is in the SuperAI.txt in the events folder in the mod-Core directory. A line needs to be added to make Egypt leave their alliance so that England can inherit them. If you can contact me tonight VIA AIM or ICQ I will be happy to give you step by step instructions so you can fix this yourself.

I like the idea, but in HoI it's rather hard to achieve. :(

Currently, Infantry Support Tank Battalion is the technology mixing two pre-war concepts:

- the idea of creating tank as assault weapon, breaking static defense lines (vehicle),

- the idea of using tank as the infantry support weapon (operational doctrine).

To recreate the first part, Inf. Support Tank (not battalion) is created - slow, but well armoured. This vehicle can be used as the backbone of tank divisions. They will be slow, but quite good for their time.


To recreate second part, this tech gives small bonus to infantry unit, taken from the fact, that it got now tank battalion. This bonus can't be given to cavalry or motorized units, as those tanks were simply too slow to work with them.

I guess all the problem comes from the fact, that German model for Infantry support tank is Stug III, which was both fast and modern enough to work with fast units. But classic inf. tanks were rather Soviet T-28 and UK Mathilda's (or later - Churchill's).

Sort of same thing happened to me in my last game as UK, though I got "The Italian Army" (negative org for all units and such) in the miraculous discovery event instead... I've been happier... :rolleyes:

He he, btw, I thought the C.O.R.E team had gone mad the first time I looked through the tech-tree and before I understood how those special techs work...
