Germany joins the Allies.

Playing 1.05c, CORE 0.63. Unholy Alliance is in effect. I invaded Egypt only to see them try to join me. Unfortunately, a weird thing happened. I ended up joining the Allies as a result. I saved the game at this point because everything looked too strange. I lost control of the territories I occupied with my troops, retained control of conquered but unoccupied territories. This in effect put my army out of supply. I checked the diplomatic status. The Soviets and Tannu Tuva remained part of the Axis, I was Allied but still at war with the Allies... There is much more to this situation, but I did not play further. Anyone else have this happen?

Mmm... playing as Germany. Partition of Czechoslovakia triggered, after Munich, on time, in 1939. Problem was, I was at war with Hungary, and there was no way I would have offered to split it with Hungarians. I suggest reworking the trigger to ensure this does not happen.... :)

Are you suggesting that the partition event should not fire at all or that there should be an alternate event in case the player is taking an ahistorical path, ie is at war? It's been discussed previously, IIRC it was seen as too easy to abuse if the event (2040)wouldn't fire with Germany at war.

Well it doesn't really make sense for a country to be at war with another and then to suddenly give that other country a huge chunk of land while continuing to fight them.

I agree that the event should stay the same for the Germans, however, the trigger for the "Czechs cede Ruthenia to Hungary" should, IMO, be reworked. I mean, if Germany and Hungary were at war at the time of the splitting of Czechoslovakia, there's no way the Germans would allow the Slovaks to give the Hungarians territory... Well, that's just what I think anyway. ;)

Blitzkrieg - I agree with you and see your point. I am working on a number of rewrites and will put this in for inspection with the crew.

2coats - I have no idea what happened. CORE doesn't add but a handful of sprites. I imagine it wiped out the sprites in the default HoI directory because aside from the Ethiopian sprite, all the other sprites used by CORE are default. At least that is what I understand.

I am playing as Nationalist Spain, and I just realized we have a little logical problem with events giving tech to NatSpain. When Germany and Italy give tech, the event doesn't check if the giver actually has that tech!

I ended up giving Germany and Italy their technologies back. Funny, but not quite correct in a logical sense. The events should all check if the country giving the tech actually has it.

Winter war events

Dear CORE Modders,

First of all thanks for making the HOI game more playable.
* When playing Sweden, around the end of 1939 you get to choose whether or not to help the Finnish actively. Eager as i am to get my field commanders to get some experience i normally interve (giving me a +40% dissent). However, when at war with Russia i keep getting the events as if i had choosen to remain neutral. i.e. the "send ambulance" and "russians protest". Can these events be kept away from occuring. Although the game doesnt crash or anything, i find it somewhat amusing to get an offical russian apology for bombing Swedish territory when the winter war bitter peace is achieved :rolleyes:

* When playing as holland, germans rushed in on me but i was able to hold amsterdam (with 10+ divs). I started to receive expeditionary forces. Not one or two, but they kept coming in and i had no way of supporting them. When i returned command back to owner, the next hour the owner (aus, south-afr, britain etc.) gave command straight back to me. The game ended with having 25+ divs stationed @ Amserdam but no supplies. When the germans attacked it was a massacre. I was wondering if the mod could be tuned so that when you return command that country actually keeps their own divisions :)

(I know the game is primairily meant for playing mayor countries, especially germany, but i just like the idea of this huge Dutch or Swedish empire rising out of the ashes of either Germany, Britain or the Soviet Union).

The first issue is an oversight, it should be easily corrected for 0.7, if it yet isn't.

The latter is an HOI hardcoded fault...It is impossible to mod HOI in order to forbid a country to keeping sending expeditionary unit even after they are returned...

those are my events and i see your point. Guess i hadnt quite thought that far. Ill have a look at it during the comming week. it might not make 0.7 but ill correct it asap.

Thanx for your attention and good luck. I have forgotten to say this Winter War event scheme was a very good idea to include, so i rather have it with these minor bugs than not at all :)
Too bad nothing can be done about the expeditionary forces, maybe it will be fixed in HoI 2 :)

Yes, it's a HoI bug that seems to happen since 1.05c (at least nobody reported it before).

It happens randomly, that when SPA is created with the SCW event some leaders and ministers won't load properly. Those who don't load are the ones at the bottom of the files, in the case of the leaders those who won't load are the last ground leaders of the list (S-Z), and the air and sea leaders.

If you save just before the SCW event triggers and try several times, you'll see that sometimes the bug is there, others everything is ok.

I reported this long ago, but i don't know if Paradox has tried to solve it.

When i made those events 1 year ago I made sure that they give techs that GER and ITA had from the beggining, but the tech tree has changed a lot since then and though i revised them it seems that i didn't check again if ITA and GER had those techs. It will be fixed for 0.7

VERY Important Bugs related with Finish Winter War reported in the Spanish forums:
1-When W.War started, FIN was Axis and at war with the allies. CAN still had the 'volunteers for FIN' event. It seems that the atwar = no trigger doesn't work.

2-If FIN is Axis and the W.War ends making peace with SOV, than ALL Axis makes peace with SOV, even if German tanks are rolling towards Mockba.

3-In the same situation as above, if FIN wins W.War, you always get a CtD.

I have found another thing that doesnt work properly, and i havent found it reported elsewhere, if it is, my apologies.

Amelia Earhart crashes sometimes : "US had Amelia Earhardt Crashes" yet she continues to arrive at dakar, bandoeng etc. and finally returning. Guess thats not correct.

Secondly i noticed Iraq's(country i am playing now) ministers are all undistinguisht suits and no replacements pop up. Perhaps this is already worked on, i dont know.
