Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I am playing EU2 v1.09, and originally started the game in CK. I have plans to go through, eventually, to HOI2. For the moment, I am experiencing a slight problem.

While playing CK I started as Moscovy, eventually conquering to become King of Russia. At one point, I entered into a marriage with a Swedish daughter. When one of my Russian kings died, the throne passed to a Swedish son from that union and Scandinavian became my country's primary culture.

Eventually, I managed to conquer Byzantium and take the title of Emperor of Byzantium, but it did not automatically upgrade my regular King title with the +10 province control benefit the Emperor receives, so I had my Russian king give nearly every province to a newly-created Byzantium (with one of his sons as leader), after which I reloaded the save game and selected Byzantine Empire as my country. All this in order to receive the +10 province benefit which I felt I should've received for conquering the Byzantine Empire anyway.

So, I complete that game and export it into EU2, with Byzantine Empire as my country. This raises some problems for me though.

First, I don't really want to play as the Byzantine Empire. I only did it in CK for the +10 province benefit, and there are no similar benefits in EU2.

Second, the Byzantine Empire doesn't translate into Vicky or HOI2, leaving me stuck as Greece. I want to play Greece even less than Byz.

I know I've been long winded, but what I need to know is if/how to change my nation from Byzantine Empire to Sweden. This would symbolize the takeover of culture that occurred in my CK game, but still allow me to play through to HOI2 with the same nation.

Thanks for the help! Extra thanks if you bothered to read all that!

Not sure if I get what you mean, but you can change nation at the start of the game by right-clicking on the shields in the country selection screen, all available countries should then be shown in a list and you can pick one of them.

Edit: apparently I misunderstood you completely. :eek:o

Stingray is right. What you would have to do is make sure that Sweden doesn't exist in your EU2 game, and have an event that turns your Byzantium into Sweden; something like this:
Code:
event = {
	id = 666
	random = no
	trigger = {
		ai = no
	}
	country = BYZ
	name = "oneoneone"
	desc = "twotwotwo"
	style = 1

	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1419 }
	offset = 30

	action_a ={
		name = "blahblah
		command = { type = country which = SWE }
	}
}

If you simply change from Byzantium into Sweden as suggested then you still have the same leaders as Byzantium. You would miss out on all the great leaders of Sweden. Probably you would like to edit the save game and copy Sweden's leaders (from the 1419 scenario) into your Byzantium. Then just find and replace all the BYZ tags to SWE tags.
