Just got around to buying AoW (your fault, P'dox, for releasing two major DLC so close to each other) and, of course, I start up a game as the Byzantines. I put lucky nations to random, to keep things interesting and then...
I do well. I spank the Ottomans in two consecutive wars, its the 1480s, and I've got them entirely out of Europe, other than their damn capital in Adrianople, and I'm just waiting for the truce timer to burn off so I can push into Anatolia and really screw them up.
So, whats the deal, guys? Is it really just the randomized lucky nations that helped me out so well, or are the Byzantines easier in 1.8? I did notice that I had an easier time with supporting rebels, so maybe thats it? Or, did I perhaps just get lucky?
Oh, and I regret not turning on Ironman mode, but I really didn't expect to do so well in my very first play through.
