What has happened to the Greek / Byzantine portrait DLC? I assumed it would be released as a companion piece to LOR but it seems to have slipped through the net. Will it see the light of day?

Next year?! From the LOR screenshots, the portraits just looked like they needed a bit of tidying up. Paradox must have quite a heavy workload at the moment.
It was due to be released with LOR but was delayed due to bugs and other issues reported by testers.
You know paradox really wants to get off that buggy release reputation, so they probably prefer to delay it than letting some more or less major bugs pass through. Don't think it's due for too long though.
It's a shame about the delay, but I'd rather see a polished DLC than something rushed. How does this portrait pack differ from Mongols and Africans in terms of coding? They seem to run smoothly with fairly quick releases, yet the Byzantine ones are bugged. Why would they be any different? That's not accusations or a rant at Paradox, I'm genuinely curious about what goes into a portrait pack.
I wish. They said in the Aztec thread that the portraits are delayed to 2013.
So we're getting Aztec portraits in two weeks time and Greek next year??? I would have thought that Aztec would have been harder to put together. Oh well - sure they have their reasons.
I would bet that the Byzantine/Mediterranean portrait pack is not done by Paradox, but rather by third party developer - Was it Danevang from the forums doing these?
AFAIK, they have Paradox South that makes graphical DLCs, but can't be sure.
I've heard (mostly from other forums, so take this with a grain of salt) that the problem either stemmed from Paradox trying to outsource the DLC to a third party (who failed miserably) or that testers were unamused at the lack of beards so it became necessary to add them, or both, or that there was some sort of horrible bug involved that forced them to start from scratch... or maybe they're just holding off and doing some sort of face pack compilation next year that'll give all the face packs at once.

The Byzantine Face Pack was done by "The Face Guy" also known as Marv. He's done the African Faces pack and the Aztedc ones aswell! Unfortunately the Greek/Byzantine pack is a bit delayed at this time as previously confirmed by others.

Nope, both packs are done since a while back actually, but there's problems with the greek faces that need to be fixed, as previously mentioned elsewhere

It was supposed to be released with LoR, devs themselves stated there was problems, so things had to be redone, which resulted in delay.

Do consider taking that extra time to add some mighty beards into the dlc, Im sure I speak for everyone when I say the community would be pleased
