Something has continued to annoy me with one aspect of the game.

I pre-ordered, and received Purple Pheonix, which by and large is pretty alright for a bit of free-LC with the pre-order.

But I can't help but think - that regardless of whether or not you think it is worth the effort (The number of byzantophiles on the forum suggests it may be) would be to improve the result of the Theme System.

We have the Imperial Mapmode, and I feel that it is drastically under-utilised, and have said so before on this forum.

I was wondering that with the addition of the ability to create new states that this could be combined with the Imperial Mapmode to really change the dynamic of play in the area - with two powers that could benefit. The Ottoman Millet and the Byzantine Theme system both could use this fantastically well, with their own interfaces that happen to also use the Imperial Mapmode.

So instead of the manpower bonus that you purely get with the Theme system, it could be effectively implicit by creating Themes (i.e. subjects with template-able armies that you can control seems the best implementation) that are largely self-sufficient with a dynatoi. (Note : an idea - not the only way to do this).

Another could be the Millet system - which could be simulated by Catholic-Majority provinces becoming part of a Catholic millet - a subject which can be converted away province by province (*shrug*)

So my essential question is - what other nations/systems could use the Imperial Mapmode - and how could they in a manner that isn't just HRE-imitations.
