It’s roughly 1560. I own the Balkans and Greece and am preparing to complete my Anatolia conquest as well as start my Middle East and Italian invasions. Allied to #1 France and #3 Russia; I’m the 2nd great power as Byzantium. Mamelukes are 4th or 5th.

My plan for my ideas was:
Religious, Offensive, Diplomacy, Administrative, Quality, Innovative, Influence, Economic

I have Religious and Offensive complete and halfway through Diplomacy.

I’m struggling between taking innovative for it’s merc maintenance, tech, and war exhaustion modifiers + the 20% infantry combat bonus policy versus defensive’s army tradition, attrition reduction, morale, reinforce speed, and +1 leader maneuver bonuses.

Any feedback?

both are good for early game
BUT! innovative idea is good if you got quality ideas + as byzantium you can have REAL CHEAP advisors... if you are strongest nation around I say innovative but if there are nations still threating you then defensive
reason:Extra morale is obsolate when you are allready wining wars .

My only real competition is the Mamlukes. They border me south of Anatolia and all the other major powers have France, myself, and/or Russia as rivals. I basically allied the two strongest empires; it will only be an issue if/when they rival each other. But at that point, I hope to be strong enough to take out France myself. Right now, Russia and I can win 2v1, but if he called in another great power, it'd be a lot tougher.

Administrative is weak if your not big blobbing. Innovative has the cheaper advisors and war exhaustion reduction, while Defensive would be more of a pure military boost. Economic isnt a bad choice for a military boost with its Horse Artillery policy alongside its econ benefits

As the title suggests, I'm aiming to remake the Roman Empire. So I may not be WC blobbing, but I'm definitely blobbing. I'm basically asking what the forum community thinks would be a better fit for Med. Sea domination as a growing Byzantine Empire.

whelp plan and current are not same thing in :D But if it is innovative because you have quality and you can chrush anyone with their policy when you need it :D also extreme cheap advisors are good too

YET! Innovative ideas has weird synergies with religius decisions (as example muscovy loses making muscovy a patriach bonus) so not sure if byzantium will have smiler effect
