How you intend to run. Values, strategy, goals.

Like, modern day politicians might run on the platform of 'family values' and 'anti-terrorism', which means they'll take certain actions and resist others. Get what I'm saying?

My platform for a while has being for a Catholic Tuscany, and the Empire doctrine. :)

Ah, much better way of expressing it then: Platform = what way you'll play.

But hey, Catholic and Empire Doctrine is all you really need. :D

ELECTION: PANZER COMMADER

I would also like to propose a formal vote for governmental form:

Remain Noble Republic (1 term/player)
Pro: Let's us make royal marriages for relationship bonuses and ability to diplovassalize minors.
Con: Few magistrates, fairly restrictive centralization limit

Change into Admin Republic (2 terms/player if he's re-elected?)
Pro: TE-bonus=more money from our monopolies, more magistrates, high centralization possible
Con: Makes our diplomacy much less efficient

I'm not going to put my government vote up just yet, but the decision seemingly more or less boils down to "Noble=diplo, Admin=infrastructure"

The voting has being concluded. The results are as follows:

In the election category,
Panzer Commander was voted for by Tabanese, Cuendillar and Andre Massena. (I presume he voted for himself as well but he never used the official form and as it won't affect the result, I making a point of it. :p)

Thus, Panzer Commander will lead the country for the next term.

In the DEFCON category,
Mobilise was voted for by Tabanese and Andre Massena.

Panzer may execute war at his discretion.

Slider carries.

First off, the official spiel regarding votes, as it relates to Cuendillar's vote.

The deadline for this vote will be the sixth of February (this Friday) at 20:00GMT, as it is three days to the closest 20:00 hour.

The category, suggested by Andre's vote, is GOVERNMENT. The opening preferences are NOBLE, ADMIN, or NAY. NOBLE and ADMIN reference the options Cuendillar supplied, NAY is the default option to reject the vote. That seems to be everything; let me know if I missed anything.

As for my thoughts on it, I have a few.

1) Could you explain what you mean by the bracketed text? "1 term/player" and "2 terms/player if he is re-elected"?

2) I don't believe a Noble Republic can diplovassalise, but I mainly play with D&T on, so that could just be me.

3)
It has worked for hundreds of years; why fix what isn't broken?

To improve it? Really, I'm the one backing narrowmindness here, not you. :p (that's not really a point; I just wanted to take a cheap, political shot. :) #truepolitician)

4) For me, there is three options. They both fit nicely into your vote, so I won't be adding preferences but it goes like this:

We are Princes forever. Vote NOBLE and never look back. Andre's position, and something of a default I suppose, as a NAY vote would achieve similar. (Though not the same; This is why I make point 1. )

We progress with the times. If I voted ADMIN, it would be for the superior centralism option and the bonus of better trade efficiency. Yet, I wouldn't stop. When we could, I'd propose a Constitutional Republic. As a large empire, production will make or break us and the CR gives a great bonus in that regard. Plus, from an RP standard, our plutocrats and free men must murmur of replacing the aristocratic government by now, so there is that. (What NI's might change this; I'll be honest, I forget which one's we have.)

However, my current preference is to remain a noble republic now, merely to justify, from an in-universe perspective, the REVOLUTION! I've never played long enough to have it as an option and think it be an interesting event chain for Tuscany to go through. It'd be a forum project of course, as we'd have to cultivate strife but by the time we get close, we may already have accomplished much of our other goals. Lastly, it does have the advantage of letting us use NARROWMINDNESS for the empire and then jumping from one extreme to the other in a few years. :D (Same with Quantity; save some cash, build a big army, then BOOM, professional patriots export the revolution!)

That's all for now. I'll cast my vote after getting feedback. :)

You can choose. If you had to wait out every election, as anyone can call them, a filibuster could stall the game. So if a reform you don't like is up for vote, you could finish your term before it is decided. If you like it, you can stall playing in order to play with the reform gone through, though excessive stalling is not allowed so that limits that a bit.

Good luck with your campaign. I look forward to any and all updates. :)

Also, I keep saying but Corsica and Sardinia have Naval Bases. Build all ships there to keep maintenance down. Plus, like a fuckton faster too. :D

First of all, sorry for the delay. I got an unexpected philosophy project to deal with, made worse by the fact I'm the only one in my group who actually does anything. But I got some free time today and decided to spend it on this! So here you go:

First off, turns out we were at war with Mutapa. I didn't know that, but we already had an army there so whatever. Alt-tabbing was broken for me so I had to guess as to the reason we were at war with them. Figured it was only for the gold and so that's all I went after.

But before I could get that, Aquilea excommunicated us
XAAqCMY.jpg

(Pay attention - this is a Chekhov's screenshot)

Doesn't matter. Beat their army and carpet sieged them. All the money will soon be ours!
cKl4PDg.jpg

Oh and yeah, that pink country joined them and was white peaced immediately, though they may have seized one or two colonies first. I didn't have armies in the region so I didn't bother.
2e9wr0n.jpg

At the very same time we got all the money from Mutapa(~1400 ducats) we got an event that gave us ~800 ducats. I thus completed our mission to build a univ in Palermo, spent all our magistrates on investing in trade buildings in the north, and then the rest of the money went into gov and trade tech.
ch9kwja.jpg

(I also set merchants to auto send to many places around the world)

At that point I remembered we were on DEFCON mobilized and I could declare war at will. Not willing to waste that opportunity I started looking for the perfect target. Algiers was the obvious choice: They had the Ottomans and the Mamluks as allies but were a crusade target and I wanted them as vassals. So there we go!
RxmgTgn.jpg

(Everybody joined everybody on all sides)

We absolutely owned all the naval battles
LpnU7en.jpg

(Did not lose a single ship, but have captured many, mostly from destroying the Ottomans' navy)

My other screenshots failed to upload and I really don't have the time to go back and get them so I'll just go on without screenshots:

Algiers proved too big to vassalise, but we got a lot of money and a province from them and I made them release Tripoli so we should be able to vassalize that.
However, we're still at war with their allies. But they'd shut up if we just removed a country from our SOI and gave them a single african province.

I didn't do that, though. We might want to take stuff from them or something.

Now here's the bad part:

Burgundy declared war on us with the excommunicated ruler CB and a bunch of countries joined them, GB included. I've beaten GB in a number of important battles in NA but I lost a huge battle against Burgundy - even though I outnumbered them comfortably - due to stupid die rolls. Oh well, I went on to win a number of other battles.

As I had to save and quit the game, they intercepted one of my armies as it was retreating home. So the next person should beware of that.

We have negative warscore in this war and aren't doing too well, but a person with more time to micromanage *can* and *will* win this one.

Our economy has never been this good. I got 3(!) events which each gave me ~800 ducats. I've invested most of that in trade buildings though I am also building a March on our north-western border and have hired quite a few mercs for the war against Burgundy. The theater we're doing most horribly on is western africa as all our enemies have lots of troops there and we have none. But just consider that a time sink for them, then. So far, it's only splitting their forces up. Also, the war could end if we just gave them Cornwall. But we wouldn't do that, would we?

First of all, sorry for the delay. I got an unexpected philosophy project to deal with, made worse by the fact I'm the only one in my group who actually does anything.

That's fine by me. Also, kinda cool news; I'm not sure I remember ever hearing you say you did philosophy. I do it myself. :)

First off, turns out we were at war with Mutapa.

Sorry; I only mentioned that in passing ('till locked in war with Mutapa') in my AAR. The objective was gold, so good guess. :)

But before I could get that, Aquilea excommunicated us

Annoying, right?

Anyway, good show. I wished you'd have just scuttled the Ottomens inferior ships, but I'm sure Et Fridianus can do that, when next we take power. Are you running a second time?

Actually, one that note:

The voting cycle is upon us yet again. We shall be voting upon: ELECTION, SLIDER(? Did a policy move emerge during your go?), DEFCON and PEACETREATY. Deadline is the 15th of February at 20:00 GMT.

You know the drill with ELECTION,SLIDER and DEFCON. PEACETREATY is a category I'm proposing. The Preferences are:
REGENT RULE: The best person to decide the peace is the Prince in power. Give him a blank cheque to end this war on ANY terms.
LIMITED REGENT RULE: The best person remains the Prince but we can't turn on our people. Give money, surrender ties and concede defeat but do not give up lands, swear fealty or change religions!
NO SURRENDER: This war will be won! No surrender is possible.
EXTEND: Add another 24 hours to the deadline. (useful if you can't make up your mind.)
NAY: Reject this vote and call a new one, with new preferences! (Nay normally just rejects the vote but given that we have to decide on what to do, it logically entails a second call to vote.)

As usual, feel free to chip in your two cents.

Yeah, forgot to mention I moved the slider towards Quality as per the vote, causing us to lose 23K Manpower - most of which we regained in another event soon after.

I'd love to run again as this turn has returned my interest in the game, but I'm afraid I'll be too busy still. And while I think that my (rather) long abscence from EU3 hasn't made me *too* bad at it, I think these wars deserve a better tactician to win them.(I think I'll go back to following and voting though)

Also should note we have 2 treaties to vote on: The one with the Mamluks and the one with Bur.

And yeah, I do philosophy, but it's not really my choice - school forces us to. I like it though. Which, being in the scientific branch of school, I never thought I would. So while I wouldn't have taken it at first if it wasn't mandatory, I think I'd stick with it now, even if given the chance not to.

Do you speak French? If so, perhaps I could show you my project and you could tell me what you think?
