War Report IV
The great War of Italian Unification is finally over. Tuscany has won a great victory, perhaps its greatest in history. We are now officially a great power on the world stage.
I decided on vassalization. It was a very hard call, especially since you princes were split on the issue. Ultimately, I decided that Tuscany has faced enough strife and that vassalization would ultimately cause less discontent. Hopefully our new subjects can add fresh bodies to our armies. I also demanded a hefty indemnity to pay for war damages.
I forgot to mention before that I white peaced Venice a few years back. The total annihilation of their armies caused massive discontent and ended in the rise of a pretender rebellion, which is quite strange in a republic.
A comet appeared at the sky after the conclusion of the war. Some claimed it was a favorable sign from God, while others disagreed and claimed that it was God's way of letting us know he was displeased with the Republic for slaughtering so many men. Either way, the peasantry used the appearance of the comet to get very drunk and rowdy.
Despite all the excitement and/or despair, there was still work to be done after the end of the war. Some of our African subjects were still in open rebellion, aided by wretches from the middle of the Sahara. I ordered a second army to aid the armies that already had the rebels under siege. The Gabukians were quickly crushed and our armies were sent east to handle the Seguian wretches.
Then, tragedy struck. Incenzo Boncampagni died from dehydration in the middle of the Sahara while leading his troops. An assembly of princes quickly named his son, Salvestro Boncampagni, to take his place, though no one knew what faction he would back.
My wish for my successor is to complete the war with Segu and take as many provinces as you can. Segu's capital is a goldmine, so I would advise you to try to annex it. Obviously, the rebels (I forget the name of their country

) should also be reintegrated into Tuscany.
Once that was is complete, I urge my successor to focus on trade and the economy and to let the army recover. We were making 160-170 ducats a year even with army spending at its highest level. I already started constructing new ships and buildings, which should please the imperialist faction. There is much work to do with buildings but we certainly have the money for it. Finally, when our national focus can be changed in 1595, I recommend we create a new center of trade in Italy if it is possible.
Bless the Lord for our victory.

I will not run again next turn. The Saltalamacchias are weary of war and wish to return to the salt trade with the death of the belligerent Incenzo.
