I would guess it came during the years between WW1 and 2.

Looks like something that Hitler would say to the germans.
Well at least my election/victory speech was 100% Hitler (look at post #414 and then at some of hitler's speeches)

Not at all haha. It was Olof Palme's speech "Hanoi, Christmas 1972".

"In February 1968, the US recalled its Ambassador from Sweden after the Swedish Minister of Education Olof Palme had participated in a protest in Stockholm against the war together with the North Vietnamese Ambassador to the Soviet Union Nguyen Tho Chan.[3] The post of US Ambassador to Sweden remained vacant until February 1970. In December 1972, Olof Palme (then Prime Minister) made a speech in Swedish national radio where he compared the ongoing US bombings of Hanoi to some of the worst atrocities committed by the Nazis. The US government called the comparison a "gross insult" and once again decided to freeze its diplomatic relations with Sweden"

Glad to have you, Scipio808. ^_^

Feel free to contribute when please and even make a dynasty and what not. :)

Oh and wonderful sneak reference there Gnorf but I wasn't aware of the speech before you mentioned it, so fat chance I could comment on it. If it helps, they say true art is incomprehensible so maybe true references are indecipherable.

----------
The deadline for the current vote closed at 20:00GMT and the vote has being counted. The results are as follows:

In the election category:
Gnorf was voted for by Gnorf*, Andre Massena, Vidmizz, 1anrs and Tabanese.
By unanimous election, the next leader of Tuscany shall come from Di Helsingur. Rule wisely, for we are on the brink.

In the slider category:
Plutocracy was voted for by (you guess it! :p) AsdfeZxcas.
Free Subjects was voted for by Andre Massena and 1anrs.
Quality was voted for by Tabanese.
As the burden of war has being lifted, so too will this government move towards the liberation of the people from the requirements of a war economy.

*I assume that speech was an unambiguous enough statement of support and counted it as a vote.

I believe, I must check it, that Gnorf just won the 'Puppet-Master' award for running unopposed.
The 'Called-it' award goes to Andre Massena and 1anrs, for getting their way completely. :)

Yeah... About that AAR thing. I'm afraid I can't do it. Just not enough time/willingness. I guess the war will just have to remain one of the more obscure and less documented parts of our history.

Let's just blame the English. Say they were so ashamed about their defeat they burnt all the books about it. Or something.

...Olof Palme...

Very very sad what happened to him - assassinated in a murder that was never solved, although no shortage of suspects - the Swedish police, South Africa, I guess the USA as well after reading this. Anna Lindh, another wonderful politician murdered way before her time as well :(

It was the CIA.

Patrician Gnorf, do you have any plans for foreign policy?

Exact our gruesome revenge. :3

I'll probably write a fairly long AAR since I just became a NEET. Should it be narrative or history book style?

I really doubt that it is in Tuscany's best interests to dive in another deadly war so fast. We barely survived this one and if you're planning to start a new one this might get us destroyed completely. Right now all that Tuscany really needs is to get out of the current situation where unemployment and inflation had skyrocketed. I'm not really sure if you will even rebuild Tuscany into a fit for war state in the time of your term so if war happens it happens on the next term

...No, seriously, what's NEET?

Not in Education, Employment or Training.

Also, I'd prefer history book, but that's just me.

Sorry if I am being really stupid but what exactly is the difference between narrative and history book? I take it narrative is more informal (possibly with jokes/conversation) including pictures and history book is simply text saying what happened when?

If the opportunity arises, of course.

You and me both. Not sure how you are viewing the increase in free time but hey, if you need a pick me up, this is an interesting perspective: Ten reasons you should never get a job.

I read a few lines from each point. Sounded just like any other bootstrap-fallacy, capitalist blubber. Sorry. :p

Well, I find him something of a guilty pleasure because, even though I don't take his world view seriously, I do enjoy reading his perspective. His extreme individualism in particular. Care to expand on the statement 'bootstrap-fallacy capitalist blubber'? I'd love to hear what problems you'd have with the information I just linked you, for example. ^_^

Well it's five in the morning and I'm fairly inebriated (have anyone tried a "Wolf's Paw"? it's vodka and lingonberry jam), but I'll give it a try. I must admit I read to little of the article, as there's no bootstrap-fallacy per se, however there is some other things in it which I disagree with. Firstly, the idea to on your own break free from wage-slavery is just absurd. The entire proletariat needs to do so. It shows a perversion of what true individualism is, freedom to oppress (as done inherently within the capitalist mode of production)= is not true freedom. I'll add some more tomorrow,
