Expeditionary forces are nice, but sometimes I want to disband units for manpower to fuel my existing armies. Yet nations that freely hand out expeditionary militia, cavalry, and other garbage units end up charging thousands of supplies if I want to buy them.

If you have Armageddon you can block nations from sending you expeditionary forces, and it's not smart to "buy" units from allies since they go to 1 strenght which you then have to reinforce.

Of course it's damn smart to buy units from puppets as they hand you back all the resources you payed with... ;) Also, reinforcing bought units costs only 80% as much as building them yourself, both in IC and in manpower.

buying units from allies in anticipation for a fight is a good strategy for getting units quickly. i once bought Slovakia´s entire army for a couple old blueprints and some supplies, and i quickly got those back:D

also, croatia has some forces for you if you conquer Yugoslavia and create croatia, giving you manpower bonus and 6 infantry units, though you can buy their last unit with a few blueprints and some supplies.

anyone who you dont have 200 relations with is pretty much guaranteed to fail save a few very rare exceptions.
