Buying Equipment

Hallo,
I was most curious and intrigued if a developer or someone could confirm that you can indeed buy equipment and weapons from other countries. By this I mean can Canada buy Sherman tanks from the United States, Finland buy Stugs from Germany, etc... I really hope this feature is in the game. Because if not I will say it will be a huge disappointment. It was one of my favorites things in HOI3 was to play around with trying to buy tanks from Germany as Romania and focus on infantry tech. As well as play as the Canada and buy planes from the USA and UK. Anyways hope I get a response! Looking forward to the game coming out. Merry Christmas.

Ahhhh dangit. I was really hoping this was in game. Not going to lie I'm pretty disappointed. Why aren't they going to put it in? It seems simple enough and it was in hoi3. Anyways sir great minds do think alike

Would love to see it aswell, but since there is no money (You only trade in natural resources and IC) it would be hard to do.

You can gift units however, land-lease tanks and whatnot TexasJaeger.

If i remember right, UK received some shermans in landlease so they dont buy these tanks but i could be wrong

I suppose Skjold89 but it's just not the same. I think it would be easy to trade factories for them. Or better yet in lend lease and in trade when you get access to their factories you could build their designs at them.

I think it is one of the two missing ways to get equipment, buying and capturing (then building more Pz35/38). GB bought the Hudson for example. Without buying GB can't have the same size air force unless you over allocate military factories and then this can be used to build more tanks etc.

I did wonder if the giving civil factories away for supplies had the opposite effect.

Hmm yeah you right a lot of tanks invading Poland was captured from annexation of Czechslovakia (i dont know hot to write this right in english)

I am starting to loose faith here... This was a critical thing for me in the game. Hmmm I hope there will be a DLC or at least mods to fix this... How can Germany get the Hetzer now!

I agree, it is truely a shame. For me personally there is so many promising mechanics in this game that i can forgive them for a few systems i don't like / consider a downgrade but thats me.

Yes I guess it would not be that hard. A produced unit has a fixed amount of resources which went into it for production....e.g. iirc a plane had like 20 days of production for 1 Alu 1 Rubber and 1 Oil ( whatever the real number was) so to buy a certain plane you would need to pay for 60 resource units......but instead of buying 4 raw materials for each CivFactory you may only get 3 units as finished products usually are more expensive then raw materials ofc. This plane would then e.g. require 2 CF for 20 days as payment.

If the piece of equipment gets cheaper as efficiency of the producer rises or if you pay for the unmodified standard price would then be details...

Before the US entry into WW2 GB bought cargo ships, fighters (example: Brewster buffalo), Hudson Bombers, arms and amo from the US. GB was stating to run out of gold or assets in the US. Then Uncle Sam started to give away stuff (Lend lease).

Interestingly France bought lots and lots of aircraft, P35, Boston, Maryland etc. After the fall of France these were supplied to GB including P40 which I think were also bought before lend lease.

I mean they can't research that all in the time line (I might be wrong). So even if you can get lead lease you'll still be building obsolete models... I just don't get why this isn't in game.

only because an pzIII is an 1941 tech, that doesnt mean it will be obsolete by 1943 or even later. Only because you research an new model, that doesnt mean that you instatly will see alot of them on the field. They will slowly start to appear on the front, while you are still building pzII at an very high rate as an example.

You wont build obsolete tanks or drasticly fall behind, even if someone is tech rushing, because they simply cant field alot of those new tanks since the production is so low initially, while you pump out tons of oder model tanks. You get quiet a few research bonuses, usualy -50% research time or -100% ahead if time penalty and some technology, your trade law, companies and advisors reduce the research time aswell.

You can always get equipment via lend-lease from other nations, you simply cant straight up buy equipment or production licences. Infact it is almost guaranteed for the UK to recieve lend-lease from the other commonwealth countries and the US, but you have to protect those trade routes from convoyraiders, otherwise your m4 shermans etc would sink to the bottom of the ocean.

You're absolutely right Lord I only meant to say that for other nations who don't have access to as many research slots may be falling behind (like commonwealth and Finland, etc...). And for Britain in a more flavor an historical aspect it would be great to be able to get equipment from America.

I think that the only way to add this to game is chain of events with modifier like -5% IC and giving for you event that your tanks will arivve in some time and spawn somewhere but i'm not sure that it is possible

well, thats what lend-lease is for. So that the US and other nations can send equipment to the UK helping them out.

What you cant do is sitting around and playing arms dealer for the whole world and getting rich that way. You get field experience from lend-leased equipment used in combat tho, so that will benefit you greatly if you play an nation that is likely to join the war late like the USA.

Given how resource trading works, I don't see why it's not possible to trade civilian factories for some equipment, just as resources.

Efficiency of the producer would affect the price. For example, you trade 3 civ factories for the result of 1 of the sellers military factory, producing tanks. If you buy from someone with high efficiency, you technically get a better price. If you want the newest tanks only, the efficiency of the seller is probably low and you are paying a high price for your tanks.
