It should be possible to buy a province from a nation instead of waiting for them to sell or sell yourself. It should be a minimum price though and 5-10 years cooldown.

AI will sell you their provinces if they can't core them. Many nations wouldn't be willing to sell their provinces even if they would know that they possible defend the province, but they might you even threaten them with a war, which seems to be a feature in Secret Denmark.

The issue with this would be balancing the AI, if I remember things properly.

Maybe make it so the AI and player can only buy provinces they have a claim on,that way we could avoid overly redicolus borders.
Would be unbalanced and ahistorical though, I think more things would be needed than just that.

Maybe a feature called 'threat' could be developed for this cases. A nation diplomat 'threats' another nation. They can ask for a province (as long as there is a claim) and menace the others with its strenght. If the other nation resists against those 'threats', it creates a temporary CB for the agressor. If they accept the pression, the province is 'sold'.

Ok then simply make it so a nation cant sell provinces that have its own culture and religion, that way we avoid anything overly redicolus happening.

If it has a different culture or religion its fair game.

Maybe you need to have +190 relations to offer to buy a province? Or, 120 relations, but at a much higher cost at 150d per development level

Looking at how Napoleon sold territory in america and Russia sold Alaska i dont think financial problems are neccessary, the province simply not being very important should be enough.

I think all colonial provinces should be open for buying regardless of culture or religion, but on the european continent you should only be able to sell provinces that arent fully loyal, like those with a different culture or religion.

That way we can avoid unrealistic things happening if its more profitable to sell a troublesome province that to keep kicking it down.

i would love a buy option.

after all there were event were provinces were bought from other countries, where a country wanted to buy first and not the other one to sell.

It could been an improved buy options.

You could "buy" it with ulimatum for no ducats, after accepting it would give 20years truce with that country.

You could buy for something you offer, you could either offer other province, +gold, etc.

why is it good? lets say you have an ally, you dont want break the alliance and conquer but they hold a province what belongs to your culture group (more tax, production, less unrest) and you have one province aswell which belongs to their culture group.

a succesfull nonultimatumstyle buy could generate 10 years truce aswell, or new diplomatic move, guaranted peace.

guaranted peace could boost relation without the cost of diplo relations inwhich you guarantee that you will not attack that country for 10 years.
